Praise the Old Ones!

I do like the writings of HP Lovecraft, although I would certainly be the first to criticize them. In a nutshell, my life is lacking in people who know what Cthulu, klingons, browncoats, time lords, or Aasgard are. Slowly, I am spreading the geek culture to the people around me, usually through movie nights featuring awful but enjoyable SciFi (Total Recall is a classic!).

I'm a student studying engineering at NC State University, and yes that decision was very influenced by watching ST:TNG and playing Half-Life during my formative years, and I enjoy a wide variety of science fiction styles (although I tend to shy away from fantasy in most instances).

Perhaps we could grab a coffee and discuss the advantages of a Fordian society a la Brave New World, or laugh about the dated references in Gibson's Neuromancer over a game of pool.
