Favorite series? Probably TOS followed closely by TNG. ST morphed into something too dramatic and took itself too seriously after we lost Gene R.
The fun, action and adventure took a back seat to the writers need to feel accepted in the Hollywood community as real writers of substance and in doing so, lost sight of what made ST so hugely popular - it was FUN to watch!
This was also reflected in the following series opening credits music. It sounded serious - not "Get ready for high adventure!"
