Looking for Intelligence in the Dating Universe Hello!

I'm Sue, divorce for 7 years & ready for relationship with a mature, intelligent man. I chose this site because I believe in most of Gene Rodenberry's ideals; equality, trust, teamwork, it's OK to be different, hard work will bring a good future, etc. Plus, I have been a Trek fan since 1967. I didn't understand much of what I saw, but I did enjoy the show.

I am happy almost all of the time. I have 3 grown children, 2 of which are still in college & live at home. I have close ties with them. I'm interested in most subjects. I love science, history, quality science fiction, animals, current events, & many other things. I spend my time volunteering; Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visitors, fostering animals, etc. I also help to care for my father-in-law & his wife who live downstairs in my home. (People have told me I'm nuts to care for them as if they are my parents. I'm divorced but I divorced the guy not the family.) I enjoy riding bikes & swimming. Hiking is fun if we don't hike trails that are too demanding.

Qualities I am looking for in my perfect guy are honesty, humor, compassion, intelligence, & a little bit of patience. Love of animals helps as well since dogs are such a large part of my life. I want to be part of his interests or hobbies, too. He can share part if he wants or keep some things to himself if he needs his own space.

My idea of a great relationship is probably idealized but here goes. The couple has a lot of comfortable together time. There is separate time to make them feel they each have space. They should enjoy touching such as holding hands & little kisses. Emotionally, they would be able to communicate their wants and needs, opening up to each other effortlessly as breathing. Socially & politically, they should be on the same page or at least in the same chapter.
