There is so much more than Trek
There is so much more than Trek Star Trek was fine as far as it went, truly it was a pioneering series, but so many great series followed. My favorites include Farscape, Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica. Yes, that last one was dark, but the writing was brilliant and it did a great job of exploring just how far any of us would go when under pressure.

As Frank Herbert said in Dune, "To know a thing well, know its limits. Only when pushed beyond its tolerance will true nature be seen".

Even though it's just a comedy and not truly science fiction, I also love Red Dwarf.

For movies, I love Blade Runner best...I love movies that seem to be one thing on the surface but beneath are something completely different. For a movie that was so inherently violent, it had a lot to say about the value of all life.
