Okay. Here's the thing. I've poked around a number of dating and networking sites that were supposedly designed for geeks. They were invariably filled with people who said things like, "I went to see the Lord of the Rings movies in the theatre! I am such a geek," and, "I played D&D one time in high school! Oh my god, I'm such a nerd!" Just… no. No, you're not.

I'm the real deal. I grew up watching Doctor Who (4th Doctor FTW!), Star Trek, and Hitchhiker's Guide. My favorite cartoon as a kid was Dungeons and Dragons. These days I'm a fan of various incarnations of Trek, Babylon 5, Farscape, Stargate: Atlantis, Firefly, and Merlin. Admittedly I lean more toward fantasy than sci-fi (if you want to quibble about genres). Most of my reading is fantasy. I've been a role player and comic reader for years.

I'm working on my Ph.D. in anthropology (physical emphasis) at Big Research University. It keeps me busy, but I still find time to participate in a number of fandoms online. I get the shakes if I have to go without an internet connection for more than a few hours.

The instructions say that I'm supposed to say what I'm looking for on this site. To be honest, I think I'm just curious whether there are actually any geeks on this one!
