I didn't watch "Lost" when if first started airing. Frankly, the first ads for it made me dismiss it as nothing more than either a serious version of "Gilligan's Island" or another crappy American attempt to rip off a British TV series ("The Prisoner"). It was a couple friends of mine, who were really into the show, that convinced me to give it a look and catch up with what was going on during the many, many re-runs.
Once I got up to speed, though, the long gap in the middle of the season and then the trickling in of new episodes among repeats caused me to lose interest and then simply forget when the show even aired, which meant I missed more new episodes when the finally DID air. So, I'm happy that this season they're at least going to keep airing NEW episodes after the hiatus. Though the long gaps sure don't help you remember all the subtle "clues" sprinkled into the episodes, especially if you aren't watching the re-runs of the episodes from the first part of the season.
It's a series that I really WANT to like, but there are just so many characters to try and keep track of, so many delays with the hiatus, and I'm reluctant to allow myself to get too hooked by "Lost" because I'm worried that ABC will cancel it before the questions get answered - as often seems to happen with quirky series that have open-ended mysteries. The lack of closure in episodes of the "X-Files" was one of the series' charms. A lack of closure in "Lost" would just make me feel cheated.
The irony is that those friends that convinced me to start watching "Lost" became disinterested in it during last season's hiatus and are further convinced that there never was a point to the show and that they're just making it up as they go.
If they don't start resolving some more things, though, "Lost" is gonna lose me as a viewer too.

I think the main complaint from most LOST fans was the hiatus between episodes not to mention they were too many mysteries and not enough answers. My frustration with the series came when they started adding news characters in the second season, which the show really didn't need because they had an established cast in the first season. Some of the flashbacks sequences were not all that interesting in the second season except for a few characters. What made the first season so good was the supernatural/sci-fi element which somehow disappeared or was toned down. Now in season 3 it seems like a bunch of people on an Island going up against disgruntled employees (the others) of a organization's research facility. The writers/producers are listening to the fans so that's why we are getting continuous episodes without a break plus we will get some answers. I hope it does save the show because the ratings are dropping, they lost 2 million viewers last week.

The Tatts where mentioned as a possible story line back in season one.
but it was a bit anticlimactic.

This show is turning into one wild trip

I do know, it just seems like the writers were sitting around a table and one said "Hey let's make Claire and Jack step-sister and brother." As of now the show is getting a little better for me, but the season isn't over yet.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!!!
they kill off two eppisode one supporting characters in the lamest buried alive scenario ever. at first i thought they came from the back of the plane.
were they afraid that just not sticking these pretty faces in each eppisode would anger fans?
did they just have to fill their contractual obligations to put the dead people in a flash back?
did they get a Deal on Lando and had to figure how to use him?
or are they just running out of ideas?
What happened to Rose and her Husband? What about all the other passanger?

I agree I thought it was a pretty lame episode, but like the actress said in the beginning of the episode,"I'm a guest star, you know what happened to them on shows." maybe that's what the writers were going for, their time on the island with the "red shirt" angle thrown in.

Oh! so now the views of the island are the flash backs
is charlie realy dead? We thought Locke And Mikeal were dead but they came back
who's in the coffin?
Who sent Naomi?
if the Others aren't the bad guys, Who are?
will the Others and the Ocianic 813 survivors have to work together? will they be able to work together?
Will we realy care about any of this when it returns mid season next year?

Lost has entered syndication, so I had the chance to see it from the 1st episode.
There were so many glaring technical errors, two-dimensional characters and goofy plot contrivances, I could not suspend disbelief and get into the swing of it.
Second episode, we were treated to Evangeline Lilly's flat *ss bathing in the surf, so now I see why guys like this insipid show.
Well, my girlfriend's cat likes it---or at least the "Jack" character.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who just couldn't get into this show. I tried watching the two-hour pilot once and I fell asleep not even half-way through...
