The Time Master Trilogy by Louise Cooper starting with The Initiate ...I'l always remember reading and loving this as a child .....it told the story of a very powerful sorceror who was torn between his loyalty for Order who brought him up and the dark forces of Chaos that he somehow was strangely linked with....... It was a great read!!

I'd also like to see them make Stephen King's The Dark Tower series into film. What a loooooooong story it would be!

I was watching a movie with Cindy the other night.
Below, about a haunted submarine; I love sub flicks but this one didn't do it for me.
I suggested we get what I consider a better film, based on the book by the same name (read it and yup, the book is better) but neither Netflix nor Blockbuster carry it.
I ask all of you who read this to submit a title request to the online rental services for

The Ghost of Flight 401

So, are there any other suggestions that the online services don't carry?

I recall seeing 401 many years ago bear and it did inspire me to read the book, it WAS better.
I agree that it is a dangerous thread and many of us here arn't too sure about trusting our treasured books to the movie hack and slash BUT for every rubbish try at making a book based movie ( raise the titanic by clive cussler springs to mind) every so often a gem appears.

Peace and long life.

I'd like to see the Rama series put to film. I loved the books.

Wicked (not scifi, I know)

Anything by Mercedes Lackey would be awesome.

Well.... the dragonlance chronicles would be fab if they could get the chemistry right. But look what happened when they did D+G

Any one suggested "with a strange device" by EFR? Would be a bit red dwarf meets star trek.

I'd love to see Zelazny's "Nine Princes in Amber" or, now that CG is so advanced, McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern.

There are 10 types of people in this world...Those who know Binary, and those who don't.

What really honks me off about this thread?
All these great ideas, and what we get is the same old crap.
Worse?
Maybe that's not such a bad thing---I loved the book Battlefield Earth, but they tried too hard to cram way too much of an epic novel into one short film.
The same approach that made The Lord of the Rings trilogy come to life so beautifully, was the way to go.

Free swag to any of my readers for a thumbs up here.

I definitely agree with making a movie about this. I kind of see Lucy Lawless as Polgara. She has the right look for it. I could see Patrick Stewart as Belgarath, he has the right mix of humour and strength, and maybe that guy from Braveheart as Barak. I don't agree with Jim Carrey as Silk though, he doesn't have the right feel, too slapstick and gangly. I always envisioned Silk as being more compact.

There is a lot of information though, so they would have to do a LOTR style filming.

That said, a new thread may be in order. Time for a casting call!

` I want to see a good version of Enders game. I know its in the works supposedly but I don't see how they'll do a live-action version. It should be done in thet 3d mapping like Beowulf.
I'd also like to see a movie of the Star Wars:NJO series. Actually that would have to be a series. Possibly animated as well... Actually, NJO done in an old school 2d animation would be pretty cool.
Also agree about a redo on the Starship Troopers. Loved the movie but it doesn't nearly grasp how great the book is.
