All that time, all that money,
and the best that fathead J.J. Abrams could do is make it look like the ship from Galaxy Quest?
This is what happens when you dumb down sci-fi for the general population, and by that I mean people who are too stupid to read anything without pictures for the big words.
I'd rather kill myself than add that goofy looking piece of junk to my Fleet.

`Actually that's a bad angle for the new ship in the movie, it looks much better in the trailer.

If you're depending on lighting and specific angles, then it's a pig.
The Enterprise-D for example, is a wildly disproportional, butt-ugly ship, obviously designed by someone who was huffing aerosol at his drawing board.
This pig does not eclipse the Galaxy-class, but it's really close.
On the other hand I've never seen a bad image of the Classic or first movie refit Enterprise.

`You have to rely on angles and from what I've seen it will definitely remind you of the Enterprise from the original series, that picture just doesn't do it justice. I got used to Enterprise D after a while during the tv series, but the one in "Star Trek Insurrection" not one of my favorites.
I found an interesting article on Gabriel Koerner's opinion on the new Enterprise.

Yes, in the article there is a better angle.
Looking down from, I'd say 30 degrees above the starboard beam, you see the same lines as the Classic.
Not so bad, but I'm not nitpicking over what lace you want to put on this bowling ball.
However, one thing in the article will never be true; the jackass who designed it thinks his version is the "real" Enterprise?
Sorry Jack, the real one will always be the first one.
A, B, C and sadly, Enterprise-D will also fall into that category, as they were the ones personally approved by the creator.
Anything else is a pathetic attempt by those lacking the creativity to do something of their own, to ride the coat tails of Master Roddenberry.
