Has anyone heard about (removed)?

It seems Harlan Ellison is pretty pissed about his screenplay being used in Star Trek novels without any royalties being paid to him and he is suing CBS-Paramount and Simon & Schuster over it.

Do you think he's justified here or just being greedy?

`As a aspiring writer i can understand where he is coming from but at the same time if every creation ever written about was copywritten how couls a series or even a stand alone book or movie be shown as most sci-fi, or any other genre move forward???

Speaking as the author of a series of sci-fi novels, the reason I copyright my work is so no one can screw with it for their own personal gain.

When I see what is being done to Master Roddenberry's work by that wet fart J.J. Abrams, I feel sick.

You don't take my hard fought creative effort and frell with it because you think it needs a little tweaking but stealing from someone like Master Ellison?
More balls than brains.

You pay the man, or you make up your own!
Trouble is these days, most people are capable of nothing but cheating from someone else's paper.

Simple: By not hoarding the profits, and paying the royalties as one should - for without the work one has "borrowed", one would not be making a thin dime.

Ellison isn't the greedy one.

J. Michael Straczynski has said he shopped Babylon 5 to Paramount, and was rejected shortly before Paramount announced Deep Space Nine...hmmm.

Harlan Ellison is suing Paramount for taking without paying him his due and frankly, I'm not surprised.

I submitted a Next-Gen novel to Pocket Books; months later a scene in the Next-Gen episode "Gambit, Part 1" looked awfully familiar.
My agent didn't believe me, so I fired him; but if Paramount has the stones to take from Ellison & Straczynski, maybe someone will believe me now.
