Heroes season 1 will be released on DVD and HD-DVD August 28th with a bunch of features. Included is the unaired 73 minute version of the pilot.

That's a long time off! I expected a DVD release earlier in the summer. I hope this means an early September for the next season and that is what they are capitalizing on to sell DVDs.
