Greek filmmaker Dennis Iliadis is in negotiations to direct a remake of the Wes Craven thriller "The Last House on the Left."
Craven, who wrote and directed the 1972 original, is serving as a producer of the Rogue Pictures update.
The script tells the story of a pair of teen girls who are ped, and murdered by a gang of thugs. The killers unwittingly hole up in the home of one of the victim's parents, who, upon realizing what their guests did, exact revenge.
Iliadis is a European commercials director known in movie circles for his 2004 Greek feature "Hardcore," about the relationship between two prostitutes.

It's going to be interesting to see how they handled this remake, the original is pretty disturbing at least to me. I suspect the people behind it don't want it to be controversial, you can never go back to the exploitation style of "The Last House on the Left" that shocked moviegoers back then.
