I am a huge sci fi, comic book, horror, and rock & roll fan. I am a HUUUUUGGGEEE fan of the rock group KISS. It seems that just about every KISS fan is also a sci fi fan. I am just curious how far that goes the opposite direction. How many of you fans here are fans of KISS?

Not a fan either, but I've been a horror/sci-fi fan since I was 10 years old.

I like their music, but I'm not a "fan". Was more of a fan of AC/DC, Judas Priest... that sort, heavier.

Interesting that the replies so far who said they weren't fans, but liked them, seem to be, from the photos anyway, a little younger than I am. Guess maybe you mostly had to be a teen in the 70's to be a KISS Army fanatic. Of course, I do know some younger, and older, fans, but mostly my generation.

Personally, I love all kinds of metal, from the metal of the 70's to the hair bands of the 80's to some of the stuff out there now. If I had to list my top ten, in order, it would be:

1. KISS (obviously!)
2. Alice Cooper
3. Blue Oyster Cult
4. Judas Priest
5. AC/DC
6. Black Sabbath/Ozzy (yeah, I group them together in my mind, even solo Ozzy)
7. Motley Crue
8. Twisted Sister
9. Ratt
10. Whitesnake

Of course, that list, except for the top three, could change depending on my mood. But, isn't it interesting that my top three are all bands with strong horror/sci fi/comic book connections? Guess my tastes in music grew out of the movies, TV shows, books, and other media I loved in my younger years. And my musical tastes over the years have shifted back and forth some, but I always seem to be solidy locked into the music of my teens and early twenties at the core.

Anyone else find these things to be true about your musical tastes? Thanks for the response to the original posts, too.

Well my tastes in music have not exactly come from my love of all things sci fi and horror but just the fact that I love music...and maybe the fact that im a moody B---- a lot of the time lol

But yeah I would say that my fav bands are the more recent ones due to the fact that I am young still. I still have a very broad taste though.. I dont choose music on what year they were made but just how they sound.

and just for good measure I will put my top 10 fav bands here:

1. Queen
2. Metallica
3. Korn
4. Red Hot Chilli Peppers
5. Muse
6. Guns N Roses
7. Pantera
8. The Offspring
9. Incubus
10. Fear Factory

You have good taste in music Steph! I love all of those bands, too, with the exception of Muse (who I am not familiar with) and Pantera. Pantera has some good stuff, but they just never really hooked me.

Kiss?..They actually did one of those Rock-Dramas things in the 70's..and it bombed bigtime since the Kiss guys didn't know how to act..I guess.

Their music..meh..at best I can take or leave. Respect?..sure..influential..but other than the fact Mike Portnoy is a big fan..my Kiss-background really doesn't go any further.

However, in reading some above posts..not so surprisingly, I see Muse mentioned a few times here.

Muse, albeit not exactly a Progressive Rock band..they have elements of ProgRock. And better put, they just plain kickass at times. New album has 3 or 4 killer songs on it.

My top 10 bands?..lol

10 bands who I listen to the most in the last year rather:

Ours
Dredg
Pure Reason Revolution
Toy Matinee/Kevin Gilbert
Coheed And Cambria
Muse
Mute Math
Klimt 1918
Oceansize
Kaddisfly
Jeff Buckley

My Big 10-15:

Marillion
Rush
Yes
Genesis
Jethro Tull
Pink Floyd
Queen
Dream Theater
Pain of Salvation
Fates Warning
King's X
Transatlantic
Spocks Beard
Enchant
Angra/Shaman
Soundscape

An ex-boyfriend spoiled floggin molly for me for ever, and if it had been a top 15 Sir David of Bowie would have been in there, I love his stuff, but I have to be in the right mood to listen to it.
Somebody else put blur!!! *glee*
I agree about the KISS age thing, i'm only 22, and I never 'got' kiss.

I like Kiss, but I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore fan. I have a few of their albums, including one or two on vinyl.

My favorite bands, in no particular order:

Rush
Genesis
Metallica
Rob Zombie
AC/DC
Queensryche
Information Society
Ted Nugent
Joe Satriani
Pink Floyd

I've been listening to a lot of newer music lately, from bands like Pearl Jam, Godsmack, Audioslave, Korn and Nickleback, but I wouldn't elevate any of them to favorite status yet. Depending on mood, I listen to a wide variety of music from classical to metal to techno, and even some country (Johnny Cash is/was amazing). About the only genre I really despise is rap.
