Just watched Stargate: Universe,
first three episodes (air 1, 2, &3).
From what I've seen so far, I believe Mary-Ann is gonna do who I'm callin "Knight Templar", and, despite being The Last Starfighter, the pudgy "Gilligan" is doomed to die a virgin.
Can anyone think of a reason I'd continue to watch this crud?
Cuz I'd rather swallow a whole, hot baked potato.

Am struggling to like sg.u as well, the first four-five eps have been pretty weak, robert caryle(sorry if have spelt it wrong) cannot carry the whole thing on his own and lou diamond phillips is totally wasted by being stuck on earth.
Did anyone else notice that RDA did not look well in the few scenes he had, hope it was just a bad day.

The show is starting off a little slow but it is far better than SG atlantis.

`You have an ex-wife stalker and a mad-scientist in charge of the ship. Then there's a couple of sergeants who can't seem to hold their cool. Did the Air Force stop giving psychological evaluations before sending people on important off world missions? And so far there's no enemy; unless you consider the individual flaws in these characters as the enemy. Fighting the Goa'uld, the Ori, or the Wraith is more entertaining. Eli is a cool character, and Johansen, well, what can I say she's Hot... so I'll keep watching and hope for a better 2nd season.

`wow. I guess I am the only one who sort of likes this series but that could be because of the lack of sci fi choices out there now.
The series I really think sucks is Sanctuary. Blech! Can't wait until that one dies a merciful death and hopefully is replaced by something better.
I do love the Robert Carlisle character n Stargate Universe but I keep thinking about him in The Full Monte and he is so different in this one which is good, cause i don't want to see him without his pants again.

The dearth of good sci-fi is an excuse I've used to sit through a lot of poor quality TV and movies; but how bad do you have to be hurtin' for a fix to settle for SGU?
I've said it befoe, I'll say it again, true sci-fi is not for everyone.
Trouble is good sci-fi is pretty expensive to produce, so the product gets "stepped on" to make it more appealing to more people---reminds me of that line from Blazing Saddles.
"They're simple folk, salt of the Earth. You know...morons."
Pandering to morons to make sci-fi profitable just hurts the rest of us, who know really good sci-fi when we see or read it.
SGU sux.

`Have to agree with the consensus that the is show has started off badly. It has a lot of potential but it falls flat with the constant survival plot lines dragging on and on. I'll still watch it to see where it goes and see if anything can be done to save the show. I heard TnA and violence work well. ^_^
