I'm looking forward to this one, mainly because the directors are making this like the Aliens and Predator movies, even giving us the original sound effects of the creatures. I know a lot of people didn't like the first one, but everything I've read and seen about the sequel tells me they got it right this time around.

They didn't get it right. I just saw it, and it was laughable. From the point where the National Guard is called in, it just falls apart.
It seemed like they cut out all the parts that would explain how and why people knew what they knew.
You see characters behave in a way that doesn't make any sense based on what you've seen them experience...and they don't even bother to try and piece it together with some explanations.
And while the concept of the ending kindof makes sense, since there is really only one way to take care of the situation, the actual acting and dialogue was really really bad. And the setup for the third film is just plain lame.

I thought the movie was good, if you want mindless action and mayhem without much human character development, I was expecting a little more. The main problem I had with the film was that some scenes were too dark, you couldn't make out what was going on. Some of the lines were pretty funny "The government doesn't lie to people." was my favorite. The sequel does full short in some ways but it's ten times better than the first one.
