Stargate Atlantis' Doctor Becket is ressurected as Scotty
And Mike Vogel is the new Kirk
scratch that
Chris Pine is Kirk
Karl Urban=McCoy
John Cho= Sulu
Zoe Saldana= Uhura
Anton Yelchin=Checkov
Zachary Quinto= Spock
Eric Bana= Nero the villian
SPOILER ALERT.....SPOILER ALERT........SPOILER ALERT..............
DO NOT PROCEED IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE RELEASED STORY LINE
LAST WARNING.....LAST WARNING......LAST WARNING...... LAST WARNING
Ok it is the return of the temperal war from season 3 of Enterprise. (first bad sign) but it is not so cold. in the 24th Century The Romulians find Time Travel and decide that the best way to better the Galaxy and the Empire is to KILL KIRK. Ambasador Spock finds out and travels back as well and with the help of 23rd Century Science officer Spock tries to save the new Captain of the USS Enterprise. What ever happens, If Kirk lives or dies the ripples through time will change all we know of the Trek Universe.
So if he wants, Abreams could totaly rewrite the Trek Cannon

Damn Cookiemonster, the plot sounds a lot like the PBEM a buddy of mine does, about a timeship called the Mystic.
Maybe he should sue.
Anyway last I heard Shatner walked off the project, feeling he was only there to legitimize a substandard production---not an exact quote I admit, but the tune's familiar.
Shatner's on site and he said the same thing I've been saying all along---reminds me of that bit in the Farscape:SG-1 episode "200".
What would happen if they replaced the entire SG-1 team with the cast of Dawson's Creek?
In the episode the idea was roundly rejected because it was dumb; yet the cast of Gossip Girl will take over the bridge of the Enterprise?
I think I'm gonna puke.

Right now, me and my friends have 3 worries about STXI
(1) throwing almost 40 years of cannon right out the air lock to prep for a new movie series
(2) I have yet to see John Cho in a serious role. even his recent work in Ugly Betty and How I met your mom he is just a big kid
(3) the Writing strike

Sorry Cooky, I'd rather watch paint dry than a show like Ugly Betty, so I don't know Cho.
I can assure you, your worst fear is being realized---look at your own post about the cast and plot, and you'll see the truth.
Paramount is holding a pillow over the face of the Star Trek franchise, and they are all too stupid to see what it will cost them.
A franchise only survives on its fan base, and what they are concocting will be too stupid for the average Trekker to sit through.

Ok, How about Harold and Kumar go to White Castle (OMG They are Doing a sequal to that) Or the Early American Pie Films. Cho was the Asian
Now from your other posts I know your Feelings on New Galactica, But What Of the Latest Bond Film? How Did You like It? I bring up these Remakes because that is the trend they are following. While You may not like these remakes that allow the stories to go in directions that the origionals could not.

I didn't waste money or time on danny craig; they lost me when they fired Brosnan.
Remakes are like babies; they take something pure and natural as mother's milk, and turn it into stinking diaper loads of putrid crap.
Harold & Kumar?
American Pie?
They're digging a deep deep hole in Nevada for toxic waste like that.
What makes Trek so great is it is not for the stupid, yet it is being dumbed down for the moron majority who are still too "dain bramaged" to grasp the concept.
It is the one shining light that sustains me, knowing that Blazing Saddles will never be remade---can't be done.
At least they can't ---- that up.

All I know is that this might be the last performance of Leonard Nimoy as Spock so I will definitely see this movie despite it being another time travel story. J. J. Abrams seems to be following the original Star Trek's established mythology, he's already got a actor for Christopher Pike, and Winona Ryder will play Spock's human mother. I'm not going to judge the movie before seeing it for myself.

Chris Hemsworth and Clifton Collins Jr. have joined the cast of J. J. Abrams' Star Trek, Variety reported; Hemsworth will play Captain Kirk's father, George Kirk, while Collins will play Ayel, the cohort and general to Nero, played by Eric Bana.
Meanwhile SyFy Portal quoted sci-fi author Harlan Ellison addressing rumors that J. J. Abrams' Star Trek movie may feature elements from Ellison's "City on the Edge of Forever" episode from the original TV series.

Personally I think this new Trek Film could be truly great..... as far I can see Abrams was between the devil and the deep blue sea on this one if he was to stay religiously with Trek Cannon as some would like he's binding his hands on how far the story can go and how much danger the main leads are truly in (to the audience)...this did have some part to play in the reason the Star Wars Prequels were pretty bad (though I know bad character development and plot were also big parts too) but now that he has come up with an idea to be able to start anew with at least some of the Trek story we still have complaints..... I welcome it though because it brings us, the Trek fan community, to a new place yet still able to say that Kirk's and the Federation history was this in the old trek shows (albeit in an alternative timeline) The fact of the matter is in this new film anyone can die and I think thats essential in a movie like this.

So now yinz are saying they're trying to glom on to Harlan Ellison?
Is there nothing these dim-witted pimps won't stoop to, in a foolish effort to stuff a hippo into a speedo?
For the first time in my life, I think I'll wait for the pirates to put ST-XI on the Net.

Nothing ever came of the rumors Harlan addressed of the producers using the Guardian of Forever for the older Spock to travel back in time. Personally I think it's a great idea, and the last time I checked Paramount owned the Star Trek rights.
