Okay first, Embryoniccell; you're on the right track.
My intent was to give the conspiracy of secrecy a life of it's own in as few words as possible, as there's a limit to the length of a ST novel submission.
You are being too literal but if you'd like to argue the merits of my work, we're in the wrong place.
Start a thread in "Sci-Fi Books" and I'll be happy to answer any other questions, argue any other points or whatever else you'd like to throw at me. I do so enjoy a good arguement.
Second, Cooky37; no I had not heard that but I think it would be cool to have the son of the actor playing the early days of his father's role.
However I still believe this movie will suck.

It's finally official, Paramount announced that J. J. Abrams will direct Star Trek XI, aiming for a Christmas 2008 release date, with a script by Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Latest imfo on the cast for ST XI. they still need to get final ink on the contracts though
Gary Senise as the McCoy
Jennifer Garner as a love interest for Spock (no word on her species human, Vulcan or other)
Adrian Brody as Spock
and yes, they are still looking at Matt Damion as Kirk

I can see Jennifer as a Vulcan but it probably will be more interesting if she played a human. There will be a starship in this movie so I'm thinking this doesn't take place in the Academy days.

I would have perferred if they waited to bring in Chekov. I always saw him as a late comer, who looked up to an established Capt KIrk

Bringing in Shatner & Nimoy is a low down, dirty trick meant to convince Trekkers this movie will not suck---"I ain't fallin' for no banana in my tailpipe!"

Leonard Nimoy is very protective of Gene's vision of Star Trek and the franchise itself. If Nimoy is involved it would have taken a lot of convincing from J. J. Abrams and that includes Nimoy reading the script to give his approval.
