SCI FI Channel has increased its episode order for the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica to 22 from the original 13, including a special two-hour extended episode that will air during the fourth quarter of this year and be released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment thereafter. SCI FI made the announcement at its upfront press event in New York on March 21.
Battlestar Galactica will air its season-three finale on March 25 in its regular Sunday 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. Production will begin on the new season in May, with an eye to an early 2008 premiere.
The series is from NBC Universal Television Studio and is executive-produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

here's some more about the future of Galactica. Starbuck comes back (if only in Appollo's mind) so does D'anna( sorry but i hope her new show tanks so Lucy Lawless comes back)
A pegasus movie and they are still pushing the Capprica series

Not necessarily bad news. If the show can go out at the top of it's game, I would rather they end it this year and wrap things up. Too often, they wille xtend a show because of good ratings, and the quality will drop. We don't want BSG to jump the shark. Much as I will miss it, I would much rather have it go out leaving a good feeling with the fans.

Well I don't think BSG is dead, there's always straight to DVD movies or may be a motion picture down the road. There's also "Caprica" the prequel, if the sci-fi channel gives them an offer, (hopefully it doesn't become this shows Galactica 1980). I'm looking forward to the two-hour movie "Razor" in November which is set on the Pegasus.

I have never been a fan of prequels, so am not holding my breath. LOL But, if things go the way they are supposed to, there should not be an opening for any further movies, as all storylines will be resolved.

They're wrapping up production of Bumblebee Goreluktacrap?
Stargate: SG1 went 8 years, then did two more as Farscape: SG1 before they decided enough was enough.
I suspect Stargate: Atlantis will clog the cable net for a few more years---if they whack that bunghole Sheppard, someone let me know.
Why would they be ending production of a---oh wait, they'd run a good show into the ground.
The best Sci-Fi Channel has to offer was imported from other networks, from ages past; they've got nuthin cookin of their own that's palatable.
I believe "fans" watch because if you can't get real food, crackers will at least keep you from starving.
