Blink....and be scared as heck!!!

This last weekend's Doctor Who has to be the scariest TV epsidoe of any show I have ever seen and the monsters are the scariest ever in Doctor Who, IMO. Now I understand what peopl mean when they refer to Doctor Who as "behind the sofa" viewing. I wanted to hidn from those monsters myself! Anyone else seen the last three episodes? This is turning into the best season of the new Doctor Who yet, and maybe of all time. Of course, I haven't seen every season, but this season? Wow!!!!!

Yes! "Blink" is a fantastic, and eerily frightening episode. I have doubts you're going to see a better episode in Series 3 (especially now that we only have three episodes left). Note to Russell T. Davies: let Steven Moffat write EVERY episode of Doctor Who next season! Moffat was responsible for the Series 1 two-parter "The Doctor Dances/The Empty Child" and last seasons wonderful "The Girl in the Fireplace." I went to the Beeb web site and read the short story on which this episode was based, and it wasn't scary in the least. The causality paradox, the message under the wallpaper, and the main character's name were the only things retained. I haven't been this creeped out by an episode since the gas-mask kid in Moffat's Series 1 story!

(Now, if they'd just do an episode where the Doctor goes to a planet that ISN'T named "Earth" - in the Classic Series he went to other planets all the time. In the new series it's Earth, New Earth, space stations, or space ships - but we have yet to see the new Doctor actually visit a truly alien world).

Actually, the rumor is that RTD will quit the show after series Four, and many of us are hoping Moffat will take over. I wouldn't mind that at all. Maybe after RTD leaves, we will see some more off worl adventures. The two reason we aren't right now is budget, and the fact that they feel viewers connect better with familair surroundings. I say "Bosh!" to the latter, as the classic show went 26 seasons and bounced all over the place.

Yeah, I've heard that the reason for not going to other planets was budget, but a friend of mine had a good point: All you need for alien planets is either a trip to a nearby quarry or a trip to Spain. Remember all those old Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker episodes that were shot in quarries? LOL And the Colin Baker episode "The Two Doctors" was filmed on location in Seville, Spain (though I'm guessing that was so the cast and crew could get a free trip to Spain).

If RTD is going to end involvement in the show after next season, and especially if Moffat is taking over the helm, well that would be excellent! I feel toward RTD regarding Doctor Who the same as I do toward Rick Berman with Star Trek - thankful for their work to bring the franchise back and make it popular again, but not entirely happy with what they've done with it.

Oh, I think RTD has done a much better job of bringing back Doctor Who than Berman ever did with Trek. Berman killed Trek, while RTD has revived DW fantastically.

In regards to The Two Doctors, it was originally supposed to be filmed in New Orleans, but the budget got cut, or something like that, so they went to Spain instead.

You two made this Eppisode sound so good I tracked it down on youtube. WOW!!!
does it say something that such a good epp have very little of the Doctor in it? The Epilogue was great. I'm glad I don't have any Statues in my yard.
