Ok I know there are Fan boys out there that are angry that Singer didn't direct the final X-Men film and left to do Superman Returns. But what's done is done, let's all move on. After viewing the trailer for X-Men 3 this new director seems to know what he's doing, looks action packed to, but will see when it's released. I've read the x-men comics since the late '70s and right through the '90s, so those mutants hold a special place in my heart. Wasn't all that impressed with the first movie, but the second one blew me away, I'm hoping the third will also.

I'm just mad that they're not putting Gambit in it.

Also, this isn't the final X-Men movie. It's the last one in this trilogy, but word is there will probably be more. A Wolverine prequal movie is already coming down the pipe. I hear they're planning a Magneto prequal as well. Plus there's still plenty to do with the X-Men. End of the trilogy doesn't mean end of the series.

What *I* want to know is why did Kitty Pryde get regulated to a barely there bit part? I mena, come on! she was integrial to the stories, not just an "also ran"

And Gambit, man , I would think that Remy would have made the cut.

The problem is too many X-Men characters to fit into one movie, there are the main characters (actors) that will get most of the attention , Cyclops, Professor X, Jean Grey, Storm, and of course the most popular Wolverine. So our favorites will be reduced to cameos and hopefully have some dialogue in the film. I feel based on seniority that The Beast and Angel (they've been there since the beginning of X-Men No. 1 back in the '60s) are the obvious choices for X-Men 3, save Gambit for the next sequel.

I was really psyched to see that they brought out beast and Angel for #3, but still leaving Kitty as a slightly glorified background character?

Please!

Come on folks I say we start a petition stating we want Our Kitty!

Yes I'm being silly, but it just irkes me, it's like they have overlooked one of the more important chracters that maked comic geeks out of so many teen girls, we grew up with the same doubts and uncertainties as Kitty, saw ourselves in her, even if we couldnt walk through walls.

Personally I think they are focusing on putting too many characters into this flick, and its been a problem since the first X-flick. If you look back yes people were happy to see Jubilee, Iceman,Syren, Colusses, etc.. However they usually just boil down to cameo roles, well that and destroying continuity. Movies and comics are different mediums and while its easy to make a massive spanning saga like Dark Phoenix or Executioner's song as a 12+ issue story cramming it into a 2 hour movie won't work. I intend to see X-men 3, I just think its going to be pretty bad and won't do justice to about every new character except Beast and Angel.

Yes, unfortunately the realities of the Movie "medium", are more about what might get funded than what you may want to do. Of course if you could marry these two up, you have super stuff for us super geeks

The problem with a movie, is that someone has to go out and get some funding and convincing them to fund more than a single movie at a time is near impossible. This makes the telling of a long story nigh impossible. If the writers/directors know in advance that they are good to go for a 6 movie run, then they can pace the story and spend more time on a wider range of characters. The reality is, you either have to start it off like you are going to tell a long story (and hope the audience is willing to wait even though they may not realize they need to), or you have to tell as much as possible in an attempt to get some great audience feedback (aka money) such that the studio then funds you for more.

Unfortunately, the general population, which is required to draw the revenue to convince studios to continue funding - don't always appreciate the same things we as enthusiasts do.

Blah, blah, more stuff you already know...

I am just happy that they are able to continue this franchise of movies, and that the second one was even better than the first (imo), leading me to hope the 3rd is at least as good. New director, ye never know, but what i've read and seen looks promising.

cheers

What I'm looking forward to most is Wolverine. X-Men finally has enough money to do some more of his advanced ass-kicking moves.

As for the rumors of Wolverine and Magneto, I think they're more than rumors. I've seen it on more than one site that Hugh Jackman has been recast, much to his dismay, for the prequel.

And as for Magneto, it's a WWII movie about Magneto being in camp and Charles as an Allied forces member.

The X-Men, both the comics and films, are as good as they are, because they are about story and character, with action and FX just there as support.

Singer got this. I'm very excited about Superman.

Brett Ratner.

Rush Hour movies.

We'll see.

I wasn't crazy about Ratner either when I heard he was hired to do X-Men 3. Since then I've seen a few trailers and he seems to be doing Singer's style, weather that will translate well on screen I don't know.

Well, initial reviews are coming in. Ebert and Roeper both gave it thumbs up. Moriarty on AICN gave it a good review.

Positive signs, much more so than I would have wagered.

I have read one negative critic review today, and from reading the other message boards people are saying it's either disappointing, or it could have been worse. Anyway I'm all set to see it tomorrow, but now I'm not expecting much.

Yup, starting to see the same trend. Bottom line, lotsa flash, no real substance.

Disappointing.

I'll see it in the theater, but if that pans out, won't be in my DVD collection.

Saw the movie yesterday. It was good, but not a cool as the second one. What I didn't like about it was how they messed with the X-men universe. Many of the characters that had big roles in the comics and shows were reduced to cameos and supporting roles. Also they messed with the entire 'Dark Phoenix' storyline. In the beginning they were going to have Gambit in the movie, but the actor they wanted (Josh Holloway) didn't want to do it so they cut him from the movie. The fight between Iceman and Pryo was anti-climatic. From what I heard I thought that it was going to be longer than it was. Also the fact that they killed off X, Jean, Scott and have Rogue become "normal" and stay with Bobby didn't thrill me. I give it three and a half stars.
