There were rumors of another motion picture being considered. Star Trek 11 takes place after Enterprise but before the original series and centers around the Earth-Romulan war. There will be a new ship and crew, but to be honest I'm kind of tired of prequels. |

Prequels are like onion blossoms. One little slip and the whole thing gets screwed up. Some prequels can work. The Dune prequel novels for instance. But for Star Trek it was a mistake to try it as a TV series. |

I think with the Xindi story-line they were trying to "mirror" what was happening in the real world and I felt that they tried so hard that it failed. Not that something like that is bad, but it's just how they did it (A attack on Florida that leaves millions dead and now we have to go into an strange territory to avenge those deaths). I did enjoy the two episode arc when they did the Mirror Universe story-line and it was great to see all the old ships and props from the orignal series.
They are trying to get a Trek 11 movie made. It is going to center around the Romluan War and will have an all new cast and ship. Erik Jendresen is the one who want to write it and he says that he wants to explain why the War started and 11 is supossed to be the first in a trilogy that will lead up to the formation of the Federation. The question's raised are; Will it work? Why the Romluan war? and Have the scars from 'Enterprise' healed enough to allow the movie? |

I personally liked the Xindi stories, payback was part of it but really they didn't have much choice since they were building a bigger version of the weapon. There was also this uncharted part of space where ships are afraid to go not to mention this was a more tough Captain Archer who pretty much through his morals and ethics out the window to complete the mission. There were some good stories there, I even liked the Vulcon zombies episode. |

Personally I am thrilled with the plans for Star Trek XI! Anything that keeps the franchise fresh is all good with me. |

Again, the key for a successful prequel is, first and foremost, intimate knowledge of the material you are writing the prequel to. For a good prequel writes in those unfilled holes suggested by the material that has gone before.
Enterprise Season three started to go that route, and season four was doing EXACTLY what they should have been doing all along. |

I've always said that season 4 of Enterprise was the best ever, then Berman and Braga had to give us that horrible season finale. Even the cast were vocal about their displeasure of that episode in interviews and online articles. |

Yeah, I've seen that. Makes one wonder why that was. Some have speculated that it was done out of spite, that Berman and especially Braga were pissed at the accolades that season four, free of them was receiving, and their series finale was a big "---- YOU" to the fans.
Any thoughts on that? |

Actually the script was written for the season 3 finale, when everyone thought it was going to be canceled by UPN, so it was on the shelf for one year. Executive producer Manny Coto (who is a fan of the original series) and the other writers were cranking out good episodes in season 4, so my guess is they wanted to stick their names in the last episode to take the limelight away from Manny. It backfired on them of course. I'm 100 percent sure that Manny would have written a spectacular season finale episode. |

Kinda like how the series finale of B5 was written/filmed for the end of Season 4, and TNT let them squeak out one more season (which was one of the suckiest seasons of a sci-fi series EVER IMO) so the finale sat in the can for a year... |

for the moment trek has had its day. it needs a break.
then hopefully when its revived t in the future there will be fresh stories. how many times have we have had the same rehashed holodeck malfuntion/time travel shows on TNG/DS9?VOY? There just aren't enough stories/or enough writer with enough imagination.
the purpose of trek at the end of the day is to entertain. gene roddenberry's philosophy is cool and especially at the time the show was originally created. but look at how audiences have changed. in order to keep us entertained we need differnet shows with different formats. i think the whole format of trek is worn out. and this does sadden me as it was TNG that grabbed my imagination and made me a sci fi fan. |

Well the 80s/90s star trek approach has failed to work in the 00's (as regards ratings) Roddenberrys original concept was counter culture, he used the sci fi cover to make statments about 60's america. Enterprise made a vague sort of attempt at this kinda thing but in the main the Federation has become 'the man', star fleet are 'the establishment' and its so PC now i expect Archer could get only get away with Kirks old "what is this thing you call love?...here let me show you" line if he employed it on a male alien.
I'd like to see the return of bit of real humanity (rather than the sugar coated all american, rosie futured humanity of next generation, ie square and boring) lets see some human weakness. hopefully a prequel will show humanity at a more brutal (and exciting) stage . |

Just putting in my two cents here. I loved ENTERPRISE. It was good from the get go. The stories were well told, the directing superb, and the acting was done well also.
The problem with most Trek fans is that they've become to hard to please. ENTERPRISE was a good concept vehicle that could have been the jump off point for re-making Classic Trek. Remember that there had been talk of revamping the original Star Trek and making it more updated to fit in with the rest of the shows. ENTERPRISE would have done very nicely as a lead-in for doing just that. But too many fans belly ached about stupid things like "Oh... that theme song sucks" or "that show screws up the history and it's not canon."
Listen, folks. If the people who didn't like ENTERPRISE had just suspended belief for a while and enjoyed the stories for what they were (which is to say, good sci-fi entertainment), they might have actually had a Trek show on today. |

I agree, Enterprise had some good stories and lets face not all episodes of the origional series were gems. It tried to explain how we got from Here, a world torn assunder by terrorism and afraid of ourselves, to the almost utopian civilization of the otigional series
as the episodes air on Sci Fi Channel grab a drink sit back relax and try not to compare it to other Trek series |

I have no idea where to post this.
I saw it surfing for something else, and...well you'll just have to see it for yourselves.
I just can't believe how stupid---oh, Agent K was right about people.
