I think "28 Days Later" was a fantastic film. Not everyone liked
it, and not everything thinks it's a Zombie movie, but I thought
it was incredibly entertaining and well-done.
I'm not sure what I think about the plans for a sequel -- "28 Weeks
Later" -- I'd love it if they could recapture just some of what they
created in the first one, but the flip-side is that it could be so bad that
it sours the first one.
Any thoughts? Rumors?

Danny Boyle won't be directing this time around which has my expectations pretty low for the sequel. The pilot takes place six months after the ravaged virus has decimated the city of London. The U.S. Army has restored order and is repopulating the quarantine city, when a carrier of the virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection, wreaking havoc on the population.

Harold Perrineau, best-known for his role as Michael on ABC's Lost, has joined the cast of the zombie sequel film 28 Weeks Later, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Perrineau, will play an up upbeat American Special Forces pilot who documents and leads to safety the families returning to London after the viral outbreak, the trade paper reported.

It would be really amusing if they could cast David Tennant
as one of the Army guys, even just for a cameo, to follow up
on Christopher Eccleston's role in the first film.

I liked 28 Days Later. I didn't think it a Zombie film in anyway. It was about people going mad. Not raising from the dead. But I can see how many people can make connections.
As for a sequal, I'd hate to see it. I'm pretty much of the opin that it wouldn't be as good as the original. It might help though if it was a story that takes place in the States and that the virus mutates in some way.

Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land.
Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert out of his home and yours.
Shun him. Drive him back into his jungle lair.
For he is the harbinger of death.

They are making a sequel to 28 days later - why? I found it to be a really unpleasent film to watch, those awful scenes towards the end when the older lass is giving the younger one the pills so that they can endure the by the soldiers. I do normally like the end of the world movies but not this one. Yuk!

I loved 28 Days later, even though I still think fast zombies suck as opposed to slow ones. I am going to hold my opinions on the sequel until I see it. I know Boyle isn't directing, but he IS invloved as an executive producer, so hopefully he will make sure it fits into his vision of the first. On another zombie movie front, did you folks know there is a remake of "Day Of The Dead" coming and that George "Zombie Godfather" Romero has another film in the works, "Diary of the Dead". It is gonna be a type of prequel.
While on the subject of Zombies, who LOVED "Shaun of the Dead"? BRILLIANT movie! The creators of that have a new one coming called "Hot Fuzz" that sounds pretty amusing too. Hope they don't hit a "sophmore slump". But, how could they possibly match the brilliance of "Shaun" and have such a big sleeper hit anyway? I hope too many people don't have too high expectations for it.
