By now you all know that the good people at Paramount have decided to go ahead and do Star Trek 11. Like most, I'm happy to see that the franchise is still willing to put out more for Trek fans. But here is my concern.

Haven't we had enough of Kirk & Spock? Do we really need to go back in time to when they first met and isn't it a bit of a stretch to say they knew each other before serving together on the Enterprise? These two characters have taken on mythical proportions in the Trek Universe, but they still were only normal people. Why make them seem even more fantastic?

Don't get me wrong. I love the characters as much as the next Trek fan, but I think they've had their day in the sun. Why not let some other characters have shots at the lime light for a while. Frankly, I would like to see Captain Sisko and the rest of the DS9 group make it to films. I mean, out of the five series, only two have managed to make money at the box office and now that both of those series have had their run, why not bring in fresh storylines for DS9?

Put Paramount, in it's infanite wisdom, has decide to go back to the Kirk/Spock Well one more time in hopes of saving the Trek franchise. But are they going back one too many times? I think they are. I am happy that they are making another film, but I just wish it had been about some other characters, even new ones.

So, what do you think, Trek fans? Is Paramount going once to many times to the Kirk/Spock Well or do you think it's ok to see more on them?

My feelings are probably pretty well known. No more retconning of Star Trek. Give us new stuff.

In the great big universe of Trek there is more than one Good captain
If you Don't want to start from Scratch how about Captain Sulu, Captain Mckenzie, "Captain" Riker,..... You want to do a Prequal, How about Kirks Father, How About Cadet Picard and Cadet Crusher........
I am still hoping for a good movie.

I think the idea of doing a Captain Sulu storyline has pretty much gone the way of the Dodo. He's too old now to play the part. I'm also not so sure about characters from Next Gen or the books. The Next Gen crew have had their time in the lime light just as much as the Classic Trek crew. But there is room for more stories with Sisko or Janeway or even Archer. I would also be very interested in seeing a whole new crew and starship for the big screen.

Kirk and Spock, the early years?
Dawson's Creek has wound it's way through Roswell, even Smallville Kansas, but I didn't know it went past StarFleet Academy too...oh, this is gonna suck.
How about a new ship, a new captain altogether? Hell get Kelsey Grammer back to command the U.S.S. Bozeman! I'd like to see that done as a kind of a "fish out of water" story---anything but yet another "Butch and Sundance, the early years" pile of steaming dogcrap!
I tell you now I'm not wasting money on a buddy film.

To all the Trek gods, I beg you, no more Archer!

I know this goes against the grain of trek But who says the captain has to be the center of the show? The tried to do this with Riker but lets face it Stewart was too good. center it in engineering, security, the crews mess,... this way we can have older captains.
it seems that the new movie will be doing this but with known characters. but why when we can have new characters

I know Bear doesn't have Sci FI Channel, but they even joked of a Dawson Creek Stargate on 200

Hopefully Star Trek 11 will be a success at the boxoffice which in turn gets Paramount to consider another TV series. I always felt UPN was the wrong place for Star Trek, The Sci-Fi Channel or USA Network would give the new series a better chance of survival. Thirteen episodes would be the limit to cut costs, and give writers/producers (who love Star Trek) a chance to crank out those good stories. I would much rather have something that takes place 200 years after Next Generation where we finally boldly go to another galaxy.

I have heard rumours lately that Joaquin Phoenix could be cast as Spock ....I think he might be good in the part.....well anything has to be better than Ben Afleck in my mind lol
I always thought it might have been a good idea to do some 2 hour long Star Trek tv movies maybe two or three a year .....it would keep fans happy and keep Trek alive....they could also tell stories from different locations .....following different starships or characters while also bringing back past show characters. For example one could be about a special group of officers consisting of ones from Voyager and DS9 who are recruited to go on an extremely dangerous mission

You're talking about doing an anthology series. I've always thought that would be a good thing to do. I mean, if that were done, every character or ship crew could get a story everyone once in a while an the franchise would remain alive and fresh.
