SCI FI Channel's original series Stargate SG-1 will wrap up its 10-year run this spring, but that's not the end of the saga. Executive producer Brad Wright told TV Guide that MGM has granted a green light, and enough money, to produce two movies, most likely for DVD.

The first film will tie up most of the finale's loose threads. "It's the climax of the Ori storyline," Wright said, and will be written and directed by executive producer Robert Cooper. The second film, written by Wright, will involve time travel, and both projects should debut in the fall of 2007.

Though no deals are signed, SG-1's stars are said to be "very eager" to continue, Wright added. "They're not big-budget [films] by any definition, but for us it's pretty good," he said. "As we've proven over the years, just give us little more money and we can make pretty good television or DVDs."

I am glad to see that we will get closure at least.

I thought I would follow this post up. The two movies are called Ark of Truth and Continuum. Ark of Truth is almost out March 11th is the release date. I'm very excited to see both and happy beyond words that SG1 is not over for good. There's a nice promotional widget up with video clips and pictures I recommend checking out at (removed)

Looking forward to the 2 DVD movies, but don't expect Amanda Tapping to be on Atlantis for long, she's doing a new series for the sci-fi channel and is leaving the show.

`Just to let you all know that ark of truth has been on tv over here, not bad but was'nt classic sg1. My biggest gripe was NO O'NEILL, he is sorley missed as the two weak caracters from the puppet show, yes THAT show were there and seemed to just go through the motions and collect their paychecks.

Not bad but as my school reports used to say, must do better.
