Being a DVD junky, I am quite annoyed at a couple of things Evil or Very Mad

1. The price of Farscape and indeed Star Trek season dvd's.
2. BSG Season 2.0 - what is this, 1/2 a season labeled as a full season

I catch some of this stuff on sale, but sheesh who is supporting the notion that this pricing is OK - comon lemme know, speak up Wink

If it costs more than a Stargate season, it's too much Idea

cheers

You might wanna check out your local Wal-Mart. I've seen the 1st three season for TNG and DS9 for 54 dollars. A much better price.

DvD pricing, i could'nt ageree more i'm happy to find out that there is at least one other person that wants everything on dvd NOW and wants it cheaper, it's just as bad as it can get we the fans are getting ripped off all the time. SG 1 is far too expensive but i need it and all of trek and b5 and and and.....
It's ok have calmed down now just had an i want moment back there.

Time to get a DVR! I recently picked one up and its a blast being able to record BSG off of Universals HD channel and watch it in a better image quality then the abysmal DVD's (atleast season 1 I don't know about how well season 2's transfer to DVD went). They have already announced a Star Trek box set for the new HD DVD format and its expected to be over 200 from what I hear so don't hold your breath for lower prices.

I haven't compared pricing, so if this isn't a good deal, just ignore my comment, but Amazon is selling the complete first season of Dr. Who...and if you buy it through our Amazon partner link on the upper right of the site, we get a little commission for referring you.

There are about 20 products in rotation right now, so all you would need to do is to hit refresh on the page until you see the Dr. Who DVD set come up, and then click through. (I think we make more if you buy the product you actually click through on.)

I believe they are charging around $65 for the full season, and I think shipping is free.

I'm not going to make a habit of pushing products in the forums, but since you mentioned it, and I knew it was one of the products we picked for display on the site, I thought it might be of interest.

Thanks,
Smile

PS. SG1 & Stargate Atlantis chat was fun last night Cooky37. Hopefully it will turn into a regular weekly thing, and have lots of people participating.

The DVR I got has helped a lot. I don't find DVDs are worth owning..even if there are a ton of extras..unless it's like a commentary, which only happens for like 1 or 2 ep's anyway. May as well just rent it or get it through Netflix.

Netflix has really helped me out when it comes to buying DVDs, if I really like a movie or TV show that I rented I'll purchase it. It has really saved me some money on blinded buys that I would probably just see once and then it would collect dust on my shelf. Not to mention it's convenient, no late fees.

I've been going through my VHS library, looking at what gets upgraded to DVD and what gets tossed or given away.
Most of it's not making the cut, mainly because it's just not worth the money.
I've seen my favorite Treks so many times I dream of Kirk hitting on Dax while Dax checks out Spock and Janeway's sipping Tranya with Archer---one hell of a party! Start throwing in other series (everyone dancing around the Stargate to Walk Like an Egyptian) and it really gets weird.
Some of it I would not take for free if you put a phaser to my head (and by now, you all know what I mean), and the rest is overpriced.
Netflix or Blockbuster Online are great options; but frankly I'd rather be found slumped over at my computer, having just completed a forum post---I likes you guys.

Very Happy

Im a compulsive DVD buyer... the other day I was just wondering around the shops with no intention of spending any money and ended up with the entire series of the X-Files on DVD. Like WTF is wrong with me?!?! I swear I have no self control...

This brings back memories of when I purchased my first VCR player back in 1985, if some of you remember those were big bulky machines, but they were built well. It cost me $600 and lasted for 8 years until it finally broke down. It does bring back good memories of going to the mom-and-pop rental store and picking up the latest VHS movies. 4 years ago I started upgrading to DVD, no complaints when it comes to picture and sound, but every once in a while I pop in a VHS of a movie I recorded back in the late '80s. I still like that VHS grainy picture with the mono(sometimes stereo) sound of some of my favorite low-budget horror movies.

X-Files - Now there's an expensive DVD set. I know the price has dropped (it used to be $130/season), but it's still expensive.

Stargate isn't bad now - you can get all the seasons at Costco for $29 each. I have 1-3 now.

Of course, I'm one to talk - I not only bought all the Star Trek sets (all five series, plus all 40 of the TOS DVDs) but both the normal and special editions of all 10 Star Trek movies and both editions of all three LoTR movies. I think I have a DVD buying problem, too.
