Halloween Movies & TV

Halloween is approaching and I was curious if anyone has any favorites, either sci fi or horror, that they watch every year for the holiday. I watch Halloween (natch), Night of the Living Dead, and Arsenice and Old Lace. While the last is not really horror, it does have elements of it and is one of my favorite comedy flicks ever. Cary Grant's double takes are spectacular, Peter Lorre is hilarious, and Raymond Massey is awesome in a part written for Boris Karloff. Karloff played the part on Broadway, but the producers wouldn't giv4 him time off to do the movie version. What a shame. TV specialwise, I gotta watch It's The Great Pumkin Charlie Brown. Without watching these, it just doesn't feel like Halloween to me.

How about the Classic Monster movie Frankenstien, The Mummy, Dacula ... Whether its recent remakes or the origional they are great to watch on halloween

I try to catch Halloween (even though I have all the DVDs), and those horror movie marathons on AMC, TCM or FOX Movie Channel. Tomorrow night is Tales from the Darkside on the sci-fi channel, and they're going to show the "Trick or Treat" episode, I haven't seen that in years.

I avoid AMC anymore since they started showing commercials and films like Ave Venture 2 became "classics". I do love TCM and Fox Movie though.

Except that since FOX got the MLB Playoffs, it never airs until late November now.

Well, Halloween is a BIG holiday for me. Well, it use to be. Ah well. Anyway, the first movie I put in is Night of the Living Dead. You just really can't have Halloween go by without watching the best zombie film ever made. Then, Halloween 1,2 and Halloween H2O. I never really liked the rest of the Halloween stories.

I will watch a lot of horror films over the month. House On Haunted Hill, The Haunting Of Hell House, IT!, Dracula (the original), Evil Dead, Sleepy Hallow (with that lovely lady Christina Ricci), Freddy Vs Jason... I could go on. I've been video taping movies for nearly 30 years. I have a ton of movies. Vincent Price was my fav horror film actor and The Tingler, as silly as it was, scared the crap of me when I was a boy.

The House Of Dark Shadows (based on the soap opera Dark Shadows) was another film I loved to watch. Jonathan Frid did a great job at being a vampire.

The last film to watch, I think, will be Shawn Of The Dead. :)

I am like you, Scryer, in that I have TONS of horror movies and will watcha bunch of them anytime of the year, but especially at Halloween. I am surprised not to see any of the Hammer classics with Lee & Cushing in your list. I loved Lee as Dracula and Cushing as Baron Frankenstein.

I have them too. I even have some of Elvira's shows and films. Hehehe. I just love to watch her jiggle. But yeah, I have stuff that was shown from the 50's on up and range from adult horror to kids scary stories. I use to have Halloween marathons of my own with the kids. Now they live with their mom so we don't get to do that anymore.

Once a month, my local group of fans gets together and does a movie night. We do, at least, a double feature. I always try to choose a theme for each month and go with two movies that fit well together. For instance, one weekend we did Swashbuckler night and watched Pirates of The Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and Cutthroat Island. Hammer has a ton of great movies to do double features with.

I have been on a jag for the last seven or eight months of trying to complete "collections" of films. Like all of the various versions of King Kong, all the Doctor Who dvds, etc. Currently I am switching back and forth from Hammer films to Godzilla movies. Not even halfway done on either. Of course, completing the Hammer collection will take forever and that is only if they ever all get released. Many Hammer films still aren't available on DVD as so many different companies owned rights to the different films.

Yeah, Rocky Horror is just not as much fun at home. I only watch it rarely when I am getting ready to go to the theater. Then it is just to brush on my AP lines.

I've got that on my Netflix queue. I watch EVERYTHING with Donald Sutherland in it.

unfotunatlly, i fell asleep while watching and it caused me to miss the live Ghost Hunters so i'm 3 hrs behind my watching
