NFL Playoffs

So, who are you sports fans rooting for? I have lived a variety of places, and have several "home teams" I root for. Out of six, only two have made the playoffs. My first team, the Dallas Cowboys scraped into the playoffs as a wildcard after losing three of their last four, one of those games to a team I never thought I would be a fan of, New Orleans. When I moved to New Orleans, I swore I would never be a Saints fan. That vow didn't make it half a season. I have a soft spot for the underdog. Except, after going 3-13 last season, the Saints win the NFC South this year, and look to be one of the two strongest teams in the NFC. Philadephia is the other team. I am almost expecting a Saints/Chargers Superbowl. The Bears much vaunted defense won't hold against Drew Breese and the Saints offense. I just don't think Dallas can get past the first or second round. Ah well, after so many championships for the 'Boys, I have to root for New Orleans to get their first NFC Championship and Superbowl rings.

And, as far as I am concerned, Drew Breese deserves MVP. I know there are many screaming for Ladanian Tomlinson because he broke a couple of records this year, but one of those records has been broken five times in the last twelve years. Big deal. Plus, his team was picked to make the Superbowl. Even without LT, the Chargers are strong. The Saints were picked for last place and Drew Breese was coming back from what could have been a career ending injury to take his team to first place, with the second best record in the NCF. So who is truly the more valuable player to his team?

I have to agree with you on with the Bears. They barely won the game on Christmas Eve and got killed by the Packers on New Years Eve. I have a feeling that it's going to be like last year where they'll get knocked out early on.

I think that the Bears actually making it to the Superbowl is a pipe dream. (and this is coming from someone in Chicago) I also think that Lovie should have switched out Grossman when he had a chance; "I know I'm good in my head" just doesn't cut it when you're actually on the field playing.

I can understand Lovie not taking Grossman out when the Bears were still winning, and Grossman wasn't too bad for a couple of weeks there. Honestly, I don't see there being much of a chance for improvement with Griese either though. Just some bad breaks for da Bears with Grossmn getting out of his groove. It could have been a much different season had he been able to be consistent. Same thing could be said for Colts, the Falcons, the Panthers, the Giants, and who knows how many other teams, though? Consistency is key. Moments of brilliance don't make up a season.

One heck of a game today, a real nail biter. I must admit that Grossman was pretty consistant, although I enjoyed seeing him get sacked all three times ('specally when he got sacked twice within a play of each other). I think that had the Seahawks not gotten a conversion right after the first one and gotten that last 3rd down they would have won.

So it seems that after some act of divine intervention the Bears are going to play the Saints next Sunday. Predictions?

And the Patriots do the typical Patriot postseason thing: Pull a fourth quarter comeback and win with a fieldgoal with just over a minute left. I was rooting for the Pats here. I am still ticked that LT got MVP over Brees. Now I can say, "Which one is still in the playoffs? Yeah, I thought so!"

Honestly, if the Saints play the way the did on Saturday and the Bears play the way they played today, the Bears have no chance. As sad as the Seahawks are, the Bears should have beaten them by much more. I think the Bears are gonna have a hard time against that Saints offense, especially with the injuries they picked up today.

And, be prepared for this one, the Saints havea damn good chance of beating either the Colts or the Pats. Of course, if they do, better buys some warmer clothes. Cause if the Saints win the Superbowl things are gonna get a lot colder as Hell freezes over!

In all seriousness, though, can you imagine what a Saints win in the Superbowl would do for the morale in New Orleans? Not to mention that it would bring a lot of much needed money back to New Orleans.

Well, the Bears brought the game they they had in the first half of the season, rather than the last and knocked out my Saints. Such is life for a Saints fan. The question is, which team will show up at against the Colts on Super Bowl Sunday? And which Colts team? The one with the good defense or the bad? I can't even think of calling this one yet.

I got nothing against the Bears, but it would be nice to see Manning win his ring. Plus, he IS the son of the greatest Saints quarterback ever, so that helps. One good thing about the Saints losing, the only good thing, is that Archie Manning didn't have to spend two weeks answering reporters as to which team he is rooting for. I mean, do you root for the team you played your entire career with, a team you still support in the town you live in, or your son? I don't any Saints fan would have been upset if he said he had to root for his son, though. Family is important in NOLA.

I think it is great that, even though the Saints lost, there will still hundreds of fans greeting them at the airport basically saying "Thanks for the great season." More fans than any other time during the season, and they didn't get in till 1 AM! This has done so much for the morale in New Orleans.

Payton gets his ring and loses the "yeah, he's great but can't win the big game" tag eliminated permanently now. And Archie gets to see his win it. I am betting there is still celebrating in New Orleans just for love of Archie. I am happy. Not as happy if the Saints had made it to the game, but happy. And I see the Saints as a pretty good bet for XLII.
