We hear this every now and then, but thankfully it is a fairly rare occurrence that a non-spam message gets caught.
It does happen (as evidenced by your comment) and when people send a good amount of email, it increases the chances that something might get caught by accident at some point.
If you are sending a message to someone for the first time, they have no way of knowing if your message might be spam, so we have to run your email through our spam filters...to protect other members from being spammed by people they don't know.
Likewise, we can't turn off spam filters for 'replies', because spammers could send an innocuous message, just to get members to contact them...and then they could spam the member by replying to their message. (Some of this gets a little confusing).
We've put in place some fairly strict spam filters, and we add to them constantly, because we're 100% FREE.
Try and imagine what a magnet that is for 'bad apples'.
The best thing to do is to ask the people you email with on a regular basis, to add you into their 'Favorites / Friends' list.
Once you are on someone's 'Friends' list, then your email messages to them do not run against your daily limit, and your messages to them do not run against the spam filters.
This is because they have, in effect, voted to trust that you will not spam them...and if a member trusts you not to spam them, then we trust you not to spam them.
We are open to suggestions, but the process in place is the best one we can think of at the moment.
We do have a few ideas kicking around, that approach this from entirely different angles, but it's not something we can discuss yet.
Feel free to send suggestions via the 'Contact Us' form or the 'Suggestion Box' form though. We do read everything that comes in, and when possible, we try to accommodate the request.
