My take on it is that streamlining an unwieldy combat system is one thing, but turning the entire freaking game into a MMORPG is going a little too far. NPCs have no soul, and certainly no culture, background, sensible motivation or personalities, just a couple possible flavors of combat abilities.
Thumbs down from this gamer geek grrrl. Any other opininons?

`I assume you mean D&D 4th ed? The wife bought me the boxed set and I have yet to get through 10% of the text without getting a headache. You are right that they have pretty much turned online gaming application to the desktop in order to bring in those players. I've been playing or GMing since the end of 1st ed. and I am putting 4.0 aside. I've been instead expanding on 3rd/OGL since I finally got my head around the system. Good thing about 4th is that now all the 3rd stuff is on sale!
