Willow went evil ....yikes!! I have to say I wasn't the biggest fan of Muffy the vampire Layer either but I did think Willlow was kind of cute ...oh and the fact that she was revealed to have lesbian tendencies sort of added to the appeal too |

Okay to "The Joss Whedon Love Association":
You've just failed an unplanned Kobayshi Maru test.
One brief remark, in bright red letters, and you leapt to the the defense of your TV show...but not one of you even thought to ask me why.
Now the topic will be cluttered with "Buffy" posts and I will get emails because it's easier to be angry at me, than ashamed of yourselves; but if you enjoy Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Charmed or anything like that, please do not force me to endure it with you.
Ah, but why?
I have not believed in magic since Pam left. Now if one of you---just one---can find the page in some big, musty old spell book that will make the last 15 1/2 months never have happened, I'll back off; go ahead, I'll wait... |

Sunshine, there's a difference between "asking why" and "thinking
to ask why."
Faced with the no-win scenario, some play it out normally, some
reprogram the simulator so they can win, and others of us
wish on the falling star headed right for us and still get vaporized
(but at least it's a good view).
I still think you might like Evil Vampire Willow if you gave her a chance.

You never let me have any fun.
Okay, fine. But what CAN we force you to endure with us?

Of course there's no magic in the world since Pam left. That's
why we didn't need to ask why, even if we thought to. |

Don't get excited. I and several women I know all (independent
of each other) purchased such boots entirely inspired by
the thief character in the animated Dungeons and Dragons TV show.
They are NOT frell-me boots. Wearing them is not meant to be sexy,
it is an outer expression that one is embracing one's inner nerd.
Back on topic, another great quote about love and loss
from the Sandman comics by Neil Gaiman:
"Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up all these defenses, you build up a whole suit of armor, so that nothing can hurt you, then one stupid person, no different from any other stupid person, wanders into your stupid life...You give them a piece of you. They didn't ask for it. They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you, and then your life isn't your own anymore. Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It's a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love." -- Rose Walker (I think it was
Rose Walker)
Of course, quoting things about hating love merely make one
love it all the more.
And of course, Neil Gaiman rocks.
It doesn't matter why you bought them, thigh high boots are just sexy no matter what. |

Angel was nearly tolerable. I watched that just to have ammo when my buddy complained they were cancelling it; but little miss vampire freller? Oh, I think not---of course if I had nary a thought, I'd be a fan too.
Yeah, all two of us that responded. As far as I am concerned, you can insult my intelligence all you want, because I am smart enough to know how smart I am and I am not threatened.

It is a shame that you have let yourself be dropped into a colorless, humorless, magic-less world because of one bad person in your life. I see magic around me every day and that hasn't changed no matter how many evil ex-psycho girlfriends I have. If you can't see the magic in, say, a baby's smile, or a hummingbird, then you are missing out on a lot.

I like you Fringey, but that's not the kind of magic I meant.
I went with "Evil Vampire Willow" right before "good little church girl" Pam.
I couldn't sit through an episode of Buffy, even with "Evil Willow" blowing in my ear with the promise of more if I watched the whole thing (as I think of it, she still owes me for making me watch 13Ghosts...oh well).
I call it "The Baywatch Effect"; something you should be really into, that just rankles you instead.
Still waiting for that magic spell; but I would not dream of spoiling anyone's fun while I wait.
Bugger, the question is what would you endure for someone else? |

The problem isn't that there is no spell, the problem is that for it
to work, you'd have to believe it will work. Call it a catch-22, call it a
non-falsifiable theory, call it what you will.
I could give you a set of things to do and say, and when you've
done and said them, it won't have worked if you started out
believing that it wouldn't. (And if you do believe that it will work,
doing and saying those things is only a formality.)
It doesn't matter when the spell finds its way to you, it's a matter of
you being ready for the spell.
ninjabear wrote: Bugger, the question is what would you endure for someone else?
I would think you know me well enough by now to know that the
real question is not "what would I endure," but "what wouldn't I
endure for someone else?" |

Mr Ninjabear seems like a very sweet guy, and cute too.
Why do people do those kinds of things to us? I for one an a sensitive soul and try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I just finished chatting on another dating site with a guy I thought was nice. He kept saying he wanted us to learn more about one another, and one day stopped talking to me or calling. It makes me wonder how much is too much in trying to get the truth out of the person? I really don't care that I am not a man's type. I just like a straight up honest answer as to why theres no more communication. If I don't respond to a guy's smooch, then I may not be interested, and no harm has come of it. However, if we have been talking awhile and I discover theres no sparks, I will say so. No sense in stringing anyone along for their own sake. Honesty (with tact) is the best policy. What that girl should have done is said she just wasn't interested anymore and not leave you feeling the way you did. |

Pleased to meet you, Vixi! You also seem like a sweet person, and I hope to be friends with you as well---yes, I know I haven't added anyone to my "friends list", because there is not enough room for everyone and I would not want anyone feeling left out.
What I really need is a "twerp list", of people I could tell to get lost---or a naughty list, for the ladies I really like.
I just got cyber-dumped by a TrekPassions member, but I'm cool with it; judging by her message, Kira's completely misunderstood me---but at least she didn't leave me to figure it out on my own.
btw: Yes Bugger, I have other nasty habits besides reading my poetry in public---a woman who quotes not just Heinlein, but my favorite novel?
You my buh-dee. |

Awww, just when I was about to change your nickname from
Sunshine to Humbugger, you go and say something nice.
But don't get too comfortable, Sunshine. I'm likely to fray your
nerves by quoting something "insipid" from Joss at any time.
And then we all know what will happen....

I can see that spell I requested is not forthcoming...eh, just as well.
What I really need is a witchy little wench to work some magic on my wand---now that always does the trick.
Silliness aside, I think I should be grateful for everything I have, and all I've had, because it's probably all I'm gonna get. |

Here's a newsflash, Sunshine:  I've been quoting Joss with
everything I do on this site -- my userid itself is a quote from
"Serenity."
