I thought that what Mark Twain had to say on the subject of swallowing frogs was to swallow them first thing in the morning and if there are two; swallow the larger of the two first.

I don't remember. Maybe read it on a bumper sticker. But I was
young, and it made an impression.
I particularly love that the saying takes into account that the
frog's day starts out bad as well.

The frog did me no harm, I shall leave him to enjoy his little frog life uned and certainly undigested.
Try starting your day with a round of Russian Roulette; you hear the hammer fall on an empty chamber, nothing else will bother you the rest of the day.
Personally, I prefer to start my day with coffee and a doughnut---but since the local Krispy Kreme shop recently closed, I don't know where to get my morning nut.

These last few months I've enjoyed these forums but when in doubt, go back to the classics. I have a new appreciation for Romeo & Juliet; poor, crazy, mixed up kids.
I don't want Pam back,
but I don't want anyone else, either.
Begs the question, do I want to be miserable?
Something very Shakesperian about that, eh?

I don't know about Shakespearian, but it's certainly very
"Greg House"ian.

"I thought I met all your friend." Dr. Cuddy, speaking to House, m.d.
You just compared me to Greg House; Bugger, that could be the nicest thing you've ever said to me---the difference between cane and crutch.
I have everything I need to maintain the body, but nothing to nourish the soul; what I can't see is the point in existing, if I'm not really living.

Ninjabear I have seen your postings and you sound like a man that has alot to give. I would never give up because there is got to be someone out there for you as well as for me. lol. I know I will never give up until I find that someone. I think sometimes it will just happen. You have the bad experiences along the way but after ten years of not looking for anyone I decided it was time to make the effort. I don't know if I will find anyone but I am definitely sure I am gonna try. Anyway on a lighter note your outlook sounds good to me. Dave.

I'm just trying to be honest with myself, without being a big crybaby about it.
The whole point of "Goin' Oprah" like this, is to seek a small measure of vengeance while trying to help others.

Get an empty cardboard box.
They're fairly easy to come by, even if you're down on your luck.
They're also very soul-nourishing.
Problem solved.

Again with the cardboard boxes?
Actually, with yet another lonely birthday come and gone, I had given thought to something involving a plastic bag.

I used to love my birthday.
Three years ago Pam gave me the best birthday ever (that includes the Batman party I had when I was four).
Great sex, birthday cake and a riverboat cruise; I think you can see how someone could get addicted to days like that.
I'm finding it tougher and tougher to live without.

Had to go to the store yesterday.
Found what I was looking for, headed for the checkout---then I heard that goofy laugh; sure enough, it was Pam and her Mom.
I wanted to ask---demand even---why? No reason I can't...but I ignored them, completed my purchase and left.
I have never deserted someone who depended on me, and I will never understand people who do; but it's what I've come to expect from church people.

Sometimes I think I'd like to be a ghost; there are a few people I'd like to haunt.
Wish I could get rid of some of the ghosts in my home. It seems like there's no spot, no quiet corner, that does not make me think of the last two X-girlfriends. Yes I miss Pam a lot more than Nicole, but...sad, isn't it?
I needs me a ghostbuster, but there's no one to call.

"Love? You're better off without it, and I'm better off without mine...she won't permit me my life, I have to live hers..." James T. Kirk
Pam and I had been out celebrating some minor business success (hey, any excuse to go out for dinner with my sweetie). On the ride home, in casual conversation, I said there was no way she'd get me into a church.
You had to be there, but it was the right thing to say at the time; though my buddies and I agree that was the kiss of death for my relationship with good little church girl.
All I wanted was a little respect---a steady date, so I'd know when to have something nice ready to go. My buddies and I have movie night every other week, so why can't she do the same?
At the end, I reminded her there are 168 hours in a week; if she couldn't pick one, then Pam didn't deserve to be my friend.
If you really care about someone, you make time for them. I always made time for her, always dropped whatever I was doing when Pam came by...and yet, I was an inconvenience.
