We are (still) mainly focused on adding and enhancing features in the network...but we have decided to begin moving towards changing the look and feel of the site(s).
This will not happen quickly, because we're not sure what this project will encompass, and we have to balance a new design with the existing programming elements.
Since we are not designers, we would like members to point out other dating/networking/community sites that you like.
We do not intend to create accounts on any of them though, so make sure the elements you want us to see are open to the public.
Please keep in mind that we are not looking for ideas on features...only on the design of the site. And please don't only point to sites that cost $100,000 to design.
Thanks,

A better color scheme and more dynamic buttons, etc. The color scheme is pretty bland and boring. Some bright reds (it IS called Passions Network) and some nice radio buttons, html buttons, etc.

Thanks for the comments, and keep them coming.
We have decided that a face-lift is the next project. Whether we make it a major re-design is still up in the air.
We plan on meeting with a design team within the week to begin discussing options.
It is likely that this project could take several months since we are moving forward right around the holidays...and once the design is finished, we will need to change the underlying programming to work within the new design.
Hopefully, this will all be done by early next year.

Might I suggest the forums of SuperHeroHype? They allow for upload of photos with a good bit of size to them and it's done from the member's own computer. I know you'll be worried about possible virus infections and such, but I don't think they've had a problem with it. This is my big request for Trek Passions. To be able to upload images from my computer and not have to go some place else just to provide a link to use here.
Also, yes, the color is drab. What I would suggest is that you find a site that allows the user to change the colors of the site to his own preferance. This is done through cookies, I believe. I know I've been a member of a site that allowed that sort of thing to be done by it's members, but I can't remember what it (the site) was called. It's been along time since I've been there.
Also, it might be nice if the person who starts a thread can go in and add a poll or change the poll AFTER the thread has been started.
Finally. I have the "Notify me when a reply is posted" checked on all the posts I have, yet not one notice comes to me. I know the rest of the site works because I've received notice that I've got mail here or (hehe) a smooch. But not anything dealing with this forum. Why is this?

We're still not sure if this will be a minor facelift, or something more...so no promises on what type of changes will be made.
With regards to uploading photos, we have a project on the long list of To-Do's, whereby there would be a member gallery that members could upload to. Due to a concern about uploaded files, it is likely that we will only display photos hosted in other locations (like photobucket)...so the member would just upload their photos to the other site, and then enter their appropriate URL so that the image will appear on our site. It is likely this will not be in place anytime soon though, because it will follow the re-design and a few other things in the works.
We've pretty much stopped development while we focus on the design project, because we would rather work on integrating things into the new look (whatever that might be), rather than add something in the next few weeks and then have to re-do the display aspects of it all over again.
We'll look into the other suggestions and add them into the list to discuss with the designers.
Thanks,
