fringey wrote: How about a forum section where people can post links to their personal websites and/or fan groups?
This suggestion, along with your prior suggestion regarding the signature line, have been passed to tech. support for review.
We're still debating the links idea within the forums area, since we already have a 'Favorite Websites' section within each member's profile.
We have a 'site wide member links directory' feature planned, that will list all the links that members have in their profiles, ranked by popularity and/or votes from other members...but it is just in the planning stages currently. We're leaning towards that concept, more than incorporating something like it in the forums area.
We are going to introduce more areas for members to add information and links, but we want to give the community the ability to vote on these things. This should work as a quality control feature, as well as a way to bring attention to those submissions that a lot of members find of interest.
These types of features require a lot more programming that some of our prior additions though, so it may be a little while before they begin appearing...but we are working on cool new things every week.
Thanks,

How about a:
1. Writers Thread section for people to post poetry and short stories.
2. Artists Thread section (and give people a way to upload images from their own computers instead of putting in links.)
I understand this takes up space but house cleaning happens a lot in these boards. One site I go to will close a thread that's gotten to large and archieves them so that they can be viewed but no longer posted in.
I'd like to offer a suggestion as to site setup. A good version would be like the one that Superhero Hype has. Please look into it. It allows for art to be posted and they can handle images that people can see without squinting. |

We're discussing adding an 'Article Submission' section into all the sites right now. The idea being that members could submit original writings for public display. Again, we'd want to tie in a voting component of some sort to help with quality control, and to help weed out inappropriate submissions. This would allow members to 'nuke' a submission if it was ----, or hate filled.
We're intrigued by the idea of having original works of art/images uploaded, but it isn't something we have really looked at yet. It would seem likely that it would be pretty easy to do, once we have the submission/voting pieces in place for the Article Submission section though.
It is likely these types of submission/display sections will not be in the forums though. Since not all our members use the forums, we'll probably add these sections directly into the main sites.
(And we'll take a look at the website you mentioned. Since there are over 100 sites in Passions Network, it's not quite as easy to make mass changes to layout and display, but regardless of that, we are looking at making aesthetic/design changes now too.)
Thanks for these ideas, and hopefully we'll be able to incorporate some of them in the near future,

We're working towards this now. We hope to have an option available within the next month or two...although hopefully sooner rather than later.

Feedback I love the new "private" friends list, however now we can't check which friends are online by clicking the online friend link. We now have to go to our "edit friends" link, since the friends list is now even invisible to ourselves in the profile. hehe
Another thing that would be great, is the ability to set up privately created chat rooms for the chat, webcam, & microphone thingie. Its a bit odd carrying on a private conversation and having outsiders listening in/reading everything I say that has nothing to do with them. lol I mean if I just want to chat with everyone I do, but if I want to enjoy catching up with someone I don't like being interrupted by those not invited to our conversation.
As for a forum suggestion, this is the same forum format I am familar with on many sites, but the ability to edit my personal profile seems to be missing. It looks to be that you are running phpBB. This forum is generally highly customizable. As Scryer mentioned you should be able to attach signatures, but there are other features I can't seem to locate here. Skinning the forum for example, changing the way the text is displayed..little things like that. The signatures would be saved into the individuals private profile which is what I mentioned appears to be missing.

Hey, feedback, a quick question. When we log onto Trekpassions, does our email management cneter show us just the emails we receive from Trekpassions, or from any of the passion sites we are on? What I mean is, do I need to check my email every time I change sites, or just when I log in?

Something else that needs (IMO) to be changed. Just in the way of function, I think the Email section should be above the Account Management section. I don't need to see the account management section once I've got things the way I want them, but I have to scroll down just to check my email. It's not a major thing... just a bit annoy.

Looks like there are a few new ideas/suggestions here:
1) Vixi - When we added the option to allow people to make their friends list private, we forgot about the fact that now they would not be able to see which friends were online when they clicked the existing link. We'll likely address this problem early next week.
With regards to setting up private chat rooms, we haven't looked into that yet, because the IM system allows you to carry on a private conversation with someone already. They just need to IM you (or you them). Having a semi-private conversation, where a small group of people on the site want to wall themselves off would be the only reason for the private chatroom option. It might be something we'll add down the road, but we'd rather put our programming time into cool new features for now (since chat and IM handles most situations).
2) Fringey - The email management system shows email messages you receive from any site in your account, no matter where you login. When you open an email from someone, you can see what site they contacted you on, by looking at their profile link in the bottom of the message. Basically, you don't have to login to all your other sites to recieve/send email messages.
3) Scryer41 - We have heard this once or twice before, and we did move the email section closer to the top of the page, based on those requests. When we go into the Email Management area, the email section is visible on the lower half of the page, without scrolling...so this may just be due to your individual display options/screen settings. We'll discuss this again, but we like the consistency of having the Account Management section at the top of the page.
Thanks,
8)

Someone, scryer maybe (?), mentioned a section where people could post original writing or artwork. I was thinking earlier maybe Tpassions could just add a blog for each person's profile. That way, people could post wirting or artwork in their blog. I know it would be memory intensive, but maybe each blog could have a limited amount of memory each person could, with each blog entry being deleted every 60 days or something? Just a thought. It would also be a great way for people to get more insight into each profile they visit as they can see what a person is thinking about on a regular basis. Some of us already have blogs, and have links to them on our profiles, but this might be a way for those who don't to have another outlet outside of the forums for things that just don't really fit the forums.

Yeah, it is me again. I am a member of several of the Passion Network sites and I noticed almost all of them have NO ONE posting in them. I n some, i am the only one who has ever posted and never gotten replies. Could I usggest that you have a general email that is automatically sent out on a periodic basis reminding people that the forums are a great way for people to get to know each other? You don't want to do it so often that people will consider it spam, maybe once every thirty days or so. This would also give newbies that may not have gotten around to posting a reminder. Just another thought from my twisted, romantic, matchmaking mind.
