Or possibly the words of Who writer Lance Parkin when he said simply that the phenomenon was 'better than sunlight, better than Christmas'. The Doctor's always been my best mate and I love him.

What a fabulous way of putting it into words. It also occurs to me
to substitute "the Doctor" for "your love" in that Sarah McLachlan
song..."the Doctor is better than ice cream, better than anything
else that I've tried...."

Watching the show while growing up certainly helped shape the way I
look at the world and think about things.

For example, be careful when you describe yourself as the "keenest"
anything -- one of the things I learned from the Doctor was to beware of
superlatives and absolutes...you know, they sound a bit
too much like 'unsinkable'....

Well, I would doubt they will adapt it, but, if the return of the Ice Warriors happens, it may well have been inspired Red Dawn. Rise Of The Cybermen/The Age of Steel was inpsired by the "Spare Parts audio adventure and some say Dalek was at least partially inspired by "Jubilee". Not having heard any of the ones mentioned, I couldn't say. But, the author of Spare Parts was credited on the show even though it wasn't an adaptation. RTD admitted where the inspiration for ROTC came from, even though they went a different direction.

David Tennant?..I guess I don't want to judge before seeing him, but he doesn;t seem the type or more importantly..he looks quite young (even tho he is roughly the same age as Eccleston) for the role.

The show tho, seems almost like Sliders..or even Stargate SG-1..a new place every week..they go off into the Tardis like the Sliders would 'Slide at the end of the episode.

Kyle

Technically speaking, Sliders and SG-1 are like Doctor Who, not vice versa. Even shows like Time Tunnel, Star Trek, and Lost in Space owe Doctor Who a nod. For those who may not be familair with the classic series, it first aired in November of 1963 and aired for 26 season before being canclled in 1989. 2005 was the return of the show and does continue it instead of being a completely new series. So, again technically, 2005 was season 27 and this year was season 28 for us old time fans.

jamie77 wrote: The 'some say' no doubt being Rob Shearman the author of both Jubilee and Dalek.

Though Ice warriors are one race that I wish they would leave in the show's past. I think RTD has set the foundations for the Master's return with the 'Meet The Dcotor' piece he wrote for the 2006 Doctor Who Annual in which he hinted that the Doctor may not be the only Timelord survivor of the Time war.

Actually when I said "some say", I was referring to fans on other forums. Obviously, as he wrote both, he was going to incorporate elements from Jubilee into Dalek, but I don't know how much or what was different. Have you heard Jubilee?

I dunno, I think the Ice Warriors were kind of cool. I will love seeing them come back. I am very interested in how they will update them, cause the Cybermen update was very cool. I also want to see the Sontarans and the Master.

Now, for rumors:

It is rumored that the Rani will be coming back this season as well. She may be the Time Lord referred by RTD in that article you mentioned. From a lot of reports, RTD really doesn't like the Master, so it may be quite a whie before we see him. But, you never know.

It is also rumored that Sarah Jane and K9 will be back again in the Christmas special for this year.

Not a rumor:

Jetix is getting an all new animated K9 kids series sometime in 2008, a new K9 than the one we are familair with from Doctor Who.

Also, CBBC, the childrens channel, is considering a Sarah Jane series. Personally, I would rather see Sarah jane brought back in a more serious adult series.

No offical announcement has been made (unless they made one today I haven't seen), but you can go to the Sci Website and look at the schedule for that date and you can see that, indeed, that Doctor Who is on there. There will be a marathon of episodes 6-13 during the day and two hours of Doctor Who from 9-11 PM.

Now, my question is, as The Christmas Invasion runs 59 minutes, is Sci Fi padding it out with commercials (my guess), or chopping it down to the approximately 42 minutes they run the first season eps in? God, I hope it is the former. The edits made during the first series run on Sci Fi were minor, even though annoying. But, cutting out 17 minutes from the Christmas Invasion would be sacrilege.

I am not sure why SFC needs to edit the eps anyway, as most run 43 minutes. 17 minutes of commercials in an hour is more than enough, but they have to squeeze out one more minute? Sheesh.

Don't forget to mention that the horse who won the race airing
right before the premiere was named "call box."

And it wasn't cancelled...it was on HIATUS. It was just resting.
It was pining for the fjords....

And the fact that it's back now proves it. Sometimes living
in denial turns out not to be.

And it's like what happened with Firefly and BSG. The rest of the guys in the barracks are going for it, too.

Sign of a quality show, fo sho.

No surprise there. I really enjoyed season/series two more than one. I love David Tennant as the Doctor. I am glad that we are getting the season soon here in the U.S. rather than having to wait a year like season one.

jamie77 wrote: Being a child of the eighties Cybermen are not Cybermen without the ''Excellent!s'' and the silver moon boots. Earthshock is probably their only truly decent story in the whole twenty six series of the original. wasThe Big Finish audio plays Spare Parts and The Harvest are good recent examples of the cybermen in action.

Well, with the Cybermen being destroyed in the Time War, we really couldn't expect them to remain the same. I thought the way they were brought back was "excellent" myself. Honestly, the Cybermen were the one major foe of the Doctor that never really impressed me much. The new Cybermen are far more frightening to me. But, I can see where you are coming from.

As to series two being better than one. Here, spoiler free for those who won't get to see it it until late September, are why I think so.

In series one, we had a very few really outstanding stories. Dalek, Father's Day, The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances, and The Parting of the Ways were the standouts for me. The rest were all good but didn't blow me away. In series two, almost all of the episodes, with the exception of New Earth, The Idiot's Lantern, and Love & Monsters were outstanding in my opinion. In the case of those three episodes, I stil highly enjoyed them, but, with the exception of Love & Monsters, most were more akin to 80's Doctor Who in feel than the new series. Now, a lot of fans truly hated Love & Monsters, but I really enjoyed it for the experimental nature of it. I love it when a series goes outside of it's safety zone. Unfortunately, the last few minutes and the acting by Peter Kay kept it from being an outstanding episode for me. If I had to ;pick my favorites of series two, they would be "Tooth & Claw", "School Reunion", "The Girl in the Fireplace" and "The Impossible Planet" & "The Satan Pit", not to mention the two two-parters with the Cybermen. Which I guess actually takes into account all of the episodes!

But, the great thing about the entertainment media in general is that different people take away different things. So, while you may not have enjoyed it as much as I did, that is cool.

BTW, RTD just said recently that the Ice Warriors will NOT be back, but two other old foes will and that this season's finale promises to be bigger than series two. I can't wait until March!

well, the official BBC Doctor Who Web site confirms That Sci Fi will start With the Christmas Invasion. But how will they fit the 55 min* eppisode not counting commercials into the Two hour period
Two eps without comercials.
serious cut into the show
or one episode with behind the scenes stuff
we all know what it will probably be but know which one we want
