Polyester is Satan's fabric...it doesn't breathe like cotton and any persperaton and odor is trapped in it forever. I learned that in my costuming class..knowledge is power.
The Mash theme song is my favorite..the one from the movie has the actual lyrics to it..I think it's called "Suicide is Painless"..

Suicide is Painless (Mash Theme Song)
(Mike Altman and Johnny Mandel)
Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be,
The pains that are withheld for me,
I realize and I can see...
That suicide is painless,
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.
The game of life is hard to play,
I'm going to loose it anyway,
The loosin' card I'll someday lay;
So this is all I have to say...
That suicide is painless,
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
And to another give my seat
For that's the only painless feat.
That suicide is painless,
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please.
And you can do the same thing if you please.
Those are the lyrics to the one from the movie. The theme to the show is the same music except without the words.
Look, I didn't hear and screaming or squishing sounds. |

Can either of you believe that was our senior class song, with the words adjusted to Leaving Here is Painless. Sucked. I wanted Turn The Page by Bob Seger. *sigh*

I seem to have that problem with my parents, I stole their CD that they got from their 30th High School Reuion and have no intention of giving it back.
I actually think that leisure suits are kind of cool.
Look, I didn't hear any screaming or squishing sounds.
I actrually owned a leisure suit back in the day. They weren't cool. Even then.
Actually, a lot of kids get their musical tastes from their parents. I am hoping that, if I ever have kids, they are a rock & roll maniac like me. I might ground them forever if they brought a rap cd into my house!

So, did they just grow away from the music or are the too cool to admit that they used tot hink that music was good? LOL I know a lot of people who don't like to admit they liked something when it was out because it is not considered cool now.

My favourite genre is glam rock. Bowie, The Velvet Underground, The Stones, T. Rex, Sweet, The Rubettes.. That sort of thing.
I like all kinds of music though, from metal to jazz to golden oldies.. It just depends on what kind of mood I'm in, really.

As I told someone the other day, it seems like most of the music I like (ie, grew up on) is now considered "Golden Oldies". I recently saw a game show where they asked a question about KISS and some girl said they were before her time. Man, I felt O L D!!! Shot right through the heart there!

Before her time? I wouldn't consider KISS -that- old! When I say 'golden oldies' I'm mainly referring to music of the '50s. Perhaps that girl just had bad taste in music, hehe.

I guess that they just grew away from the music, although when a song comes on the radio that he knows he starts to sing along to it and I just pretend that I don't know him. ^-^

We've got a girl here at work who sings along with her music. Very annoying. On another note, a ghost in the machine got to my iPod tonight and deleted over 4500 songs. I got to work and plugged it in and realized I only had 45 songs and 43 of those were Cheap Trick. *sigh* Back to internet radio for the night and re-syncing the iPod in the morning.

Fringey, I think you're right. It's a toss-up between that annoying song from Friends (a show I only watched to gather ammo) and that air raid siren Paula Cole's "I don't wanna wait" from Dawson's Creek.
Just because it doesn't get radio airplay doesn't mean it's not a good theme song, and my musical quality control test is about 95% accurate.
House, m.d. has a theme song that grooves.
Highlander had a B----in' theme song by Queen.
Anything by John Williams, from the theme song for the TV series Lost in Space to the magnificent work he's done for the Star Wars films.
Hell even Alias had a theme song that had me get up and dance.

You know it has always bothered me that Tina Turner's 007 theme Goldeneye did not fare well on the Billboard charts. It's my second favorite, after the original 007 theme (which was only supposed to be the song for the movie Dr. No) but then, I love all sorts of music; this is my mother's doing.
It was her bright idea to dress up her children and take them to the symphony, as often as possible. That's why I missed some of the Fiesta Bowl yesterday, switching between the game and the annual New Year's concert from Vienna (gotta love that Strauss---that's what Uhura's playing on the harpsichord in the classic episode "The Squire of Gothos").
Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller (why I hate the pretty people on the Andromeda Ascendent), Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Tom Jones and Herb Alpert; all very popular in my house when I was a boy.
Anyone else prefer the Tom Jones rendition of "kiss" over the original by Prince?

Definitely prefer TJ's version of Kiss with Art Of Noise. Of course, I just thought that Art of Noise was cool anyway. As to TV themes, my two favorites are the Mission Impossible theme and the theme from Peter Gunn. Never saw an ep of the latter, but love the theme song. Hawaii 5 O had a great theme too.

Probably listens to nothing but rap. Which, as anyone should realize, we caucasians had first. We just called it square dancing.
