We all need a laugh once in a while, and Science Fiction has given us everything from giggles to belly laughs. But What kind of laughs do you like?
Those funny lines and images used to break the tension
the funny eppisodes used to fill the seasons
Inside Jokes
those poor shows or movies so bad they are Funny
The Tongue in Cheek movie/seres that just happen to us Sci Fi
Will someone shut that man up
NEVER! |

As a matter of fact, there is a dvd of all the Quark episodes sitting not three feet from me. I remember the show as being hilarious when I saw it when it aired in 1978. It does NOT hold up as well as Buck Henry's masterpiece, Get Smart. Oh well. Of course, the funniest parodies of sci fi are Spaceballs, Dark Star, and Galaxina. Spaced Invaders is right up there. And on the edge of sci fi/horror, we have Ghostbusters, natch. There is a lot of comedy sci fi out there.

How could I have forgotten Red Dwarf? Or Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy? I have that Rowan Atkinson sketch on a disc somewhere. That was doen for a Children In Need special in the UK and it is hilarious. The Curse Of The Fatal Death. Of course Rowan isn't in the whole thing, and the Doctor ends up using all of his regenerations by the end of it. Well, i say "his", but the last regeneration is Joanna Lumley. And don't forget Jonathan Pryce was wonderful as the Master in that!

`Red dwarf pokes fun at most other sci-fi shows.Allot of laughs with that British twist to the humor.Great stuff. Oh and do the Goodies count as sci-fi they were certainly out there and roll on the floor laughing funny. What about some of the early doctor who monsters looking back scary but now hilarious.
