Anybody watching the new series? I've caught half of Season '1' via DVD, and thoroughly enjoyed it - Doctor Who was such a formative viewing thing in Britain, cheesy as it was, and it's just marvellous to see Russell T Davis - (clearly a diehard Whovian himself, if Vince in QAF is anything to go by) managing to bring it back from the dead, Daleks and all.
....anyone?

Looking forwards to the new series.
Wasn't a big fan of Dr Who when I was younger but episodes last year impressed me and I now catch up with all the old episodes on UK Gold |

New series started Saturday 15th, fantastic! Thought CE was good, but David Tennant was much much better and its only the 1st episode.
Can`t wait to see whats in store for rest of series, but its bound to be cheesy & fun, and with DT is gonna be sexy too....... |

My take on the new Dr. Who:
Christopher Eccleston is good, very different from previous doctors. Too bad he didn't stay.
MUCH better special effects!
Stories mostly well written, although he seems to be saving the world every single episode. (Except of course the one where it's destroyed!)
Ambivalent about the destruction of the Time Lords/time war angle.
Really liked the part when he brought Rose back and found out it was a year later and the repercussions.
I hear Sarah Jane is supposed to be on an episode in Season 2. Who else would you like to see come back? Companions or villains. Personally I'd like to see Ice Warriors again. |

I'd like to see Leela again, as well as Peri.
I've heard that K-9 might be back. |

Effects are gonna be better - just think what gone on in the sci-fi industry since Mr McCoy`s Dr Who. And then theres the budget per episode - I don`t think they paid anywhere near that per series before!
Time Lord/time war is one of those threads which I belive will appear & reappear until the actual episode where it is explained & achieves it full potential as a story. It`s touched upon in the 1st episode of this series with DT.
I know the Cybermen are going to appear, and I found them far more frightening than the Darleks, so my baddies are the Cybermen.
And my companion has to be Adric, to bad he died destroying the Cybermen. |

This is an excellent update of this show. Christpher Eccelston is amazing as The Doctor. He gives the character an edgy feel that He never really had in the original show. I can't wait to see what the season cliff hanger will be like but, I suspect that it involves Daleks. |

I'm loving the new Doctor Who. I thought CE was a fantastic doctor but DT is growing on me fast! I think when The Doctor was taken over by Cassandra DTs acting was superb, I'm not sure if CE could have pulled it off as well.
Was good to see K9 again! |

Loved CE but DT has grabbed the series by the hair and shaken it up.There is a wisper that there is to be another attempt at a Sarah jane-k9 show, there was a one off called k9 and company made in 1980 and shown in 81 in the Uk.Don't know if you have ever seen it on your side of the pond it suffered from a weak script and poor production but was fun to watch.
The best part of seeing the doc again is that a new generation now want to hide behind the sofa, keep posting as this site is going from strength to strength. |

I have got to say, I am a long time fan going back to the 80's and the new series has just blown me away, with a few minor misses here and there. As much as I loved Series One with Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant has been superb and could become my favorite Doctor. I am sitting at work right now, itching to get home to see if the season finale has finished dow....uuuuummmmmm...whether my gremlins have presented me with their present of it!
I refuse to post anything spoilerish, but Part One last week just left me with my jaw hanging. Part Two better live up to it!

I'm the keenest Doctor Who fan you're likely to meet (and, BTW, may I recommend Outpost Gallifrey@ (removed)). Even though I'm in the US, the first (2005) new series I was able to enjoy via Canadian television; living in Northern New England and so close to the Great White North has its advantages. And I had my DVDs of the first season from AmazonCanada as well. . . (note to my fellow Yanks: if stuff airs there, you can import it on disc from Canada as well)
The second series I've been purchasing direct from the UK in Region 2 format to watch on my multi-region playing DVD player. I could always download Doctor Who illegally, but watching something I hold so dear on my computer screen is a little bit of hell. . . So I'm a bit behind. But volume 3 of series two is about to arrive and I'm well excited.
I could linger here and go on about how brilliant Christopher Eccleston was as the Doctor--or about how even more brilliant David Tennant is--but I think I'll adopt the lyrics of Mike Scott to describe Doctor Who in general: It '. . .is like a ray of light. . . it is like children praying, it is like harps and bells and cymbals playing.' Or possibly the words of Who writer Lance Parkin when he said simply that the phenomenon was 'better than sunlight, better than Christmas'. The Doctor's always been my best mate and I love him.
And, as this is a matchmaking site, I'm a single man, 29 years of age in mid-Vermont looking for a woman! Give my profile a look.

I haven't seen Series 2 yet, but I have got to say, I really liked Eccleston as the Doctor.
David Tennant?..I guess I don't want to judge before seeing him, but he doesn;t seem the type or more importantly..he looks quite young (even tho he is roughly the same age as Eccleston) for the role.
The show tho, seems almost like Sliders..or even Stargate SG-1..a new place every week..they go off into the Tardis like the Sliders would 'Slide at the end of the episode.
