Oh let her go, Bugger.
The only thing about Kira that annoys me is I can't quote from my favorite film, because the lead character has the same name.
She may provide good theater so by all means, kiraofborg, have at me!

Don't worry, Sunshine. I wouldn't dream of
interfering when you're fully capable of sticking
up for yourself.

I just wanted to know if there was gonna be a
fight so I could go pop some popcorn and settle in
to enjoy the show.

Bugger, does that mean you haven't got my back?
Somone comes after one of my friends, the jerk's got to get past me first;
but it's nice to have someone jump in front of me once in a while.
Especially since I can't in all good conscience---or by law---hit a girl.

Reminds me of a stand-up philosopher whose name I can't recall; a former police officer who had a solution to domestic violence.
He said, "If your woman hits you, don't hit back. Do the mature, responsible thing...tell your mother. Your Mother may not have spanked anyone in 15 years, but she will come out of retirement to whoop yo woman's *ss."
Mum loves that joke.

Don't worry, Sunshine, I've got your six.

Well, in my mind there's a difference between standing up for
someone when circumstances call for it, and fighting their battles
for them.

When you jump into the fray to fight for someone fully capable,
it can sometimes be an insult -- like you think they're weak or
not up to it.

So it's one thing to have someone's back and make sure they don't
get ambushed or snuck up on, but to intervene in a fair fight with
someone coming straight at them, well, I wouldn't want to insult you
by implying you're not up to handling that yourself.

Oh, but you want me to break the bonds of sisterhood and go after
another woman? Sheesh. We women have it hard enough without
turning on each other.

Besides, I don't think the laws about domestic violence apply to
verbal sparring on the web.

But I tell you what, Sunshine -- you two have at it, and Bub and I can
keep score and act as referees -- that way there can't be any gender
bias in the scoring. How about it, Bub?

Yeah Miss Swallow I think I can take some time out of my busy schedule to co-judge/Referee this verbal spar with you and considering that comment you wrote " Sheesh. We women have it hard enough without turning on each other." perhaps its a good thing that I keep the male balance Twisted Evil

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

Not always such an insult coming to the aid of someone completely capable of defending himself.
I once stood between a soldier and a drunk, because the soldier was in uniform and therefore forbidden by the UCMJ from engaging the big mouthed jerk.
The bouncer threw the jerk out, the soldier and his friends bought me a beer, and a good time was had by all...hoo-rah.

What happens in the bubble, stays in the bubble---but it's a plexiglass ball and everyone else can see in so, caseystiletto, feel free to join the argument when and as you please.

I started this thread with the objective of demonstrating the need to hold on and hang tough, no matter what, to keep a dream alive....any thoughts you'd like to add, I'd love to read.

"Dreams don't die we, we kill them." Gene Kelly as Danny McGuire, from my all-time favorite film.

Dreams also die for lack of sunlight. Exposure is as important as talent and persistance---how many great ideas never saw the light of day, we may never know (Heinsenberg, you pessimist).
It is every bit as important to stand out from the crowd, make a splash, something, anything to get your dream noticed; I'd like to thank the nice people at Trek Passions for doing their bit to keep my dream alive.

I'm a damn good storyteller, but wordsmithing is only the first part of the challenge. I've been working the gold mine, now it's time to bring it out---and anyone who has seen the classic film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre knows, that's really the hard part.
Now if anyone can think of a publicity stunt that is not illegal, immoral, suicidal, counterproductive or just plain stupid, please let me know.

I'm reminded of a passenger on the bus who called me a liar to my face, then refused to speak to me, all because I had laid claim to martial arts skills. Had I been less disciplined, I might have kicked his *ss when we got off at the same stop but I was on a mission---a small test of my skills, to be sure I had not lost my touch. A repetion of a training exercise; penetrate and evade security undetected, but bring back a souvenier.
I showed the fruits of my labor to a friend, who asked me to train him.

I recently made a startling discovery at a local video store. When I told my friends, they were eager to take advantage of this unusual item.
I for one was happy to purchase nearly all the shinai the store had; only one left to fall into the hands of some teenage nitwit who loves the Jackass movies & TV show, and will almost certainly do property damage before he hurts himself or others.
For the edification of those not trained in its use a shinai is a meter of bamboo, split then lashed back together, making it damn near indestructable. It is meant as a Kendo training weapon; why there was a stack of them in the anime section of a video shop at the mall, I'll never understand.

Sometimes I get discouraged by the feeling I'm being humored. The chance to prove my abilities by training worthy students is not merely uplifting, but vindication.

Some of you will be pleased to know I have taught the Barnes & Noble bureaucrasaurus a new trick.
I just shipped the warehouse order; no longer a mere listing, B&N will have Banshee's Wail---second book in The Shadowmaster Series---for sale in their online store.

Hopefully this will stem the flow of B&N customers that track me down to complain about www.bn.com
---hey I'm as frustrated as you are!
