How many of you are members in some kind of sci fi, fantasy, or horror related fan club? And I don't really mean an online club, unless they actually do things together offline. I am talking about being part of a group where you actually meet eople in person and do things together.
I am in Starfleet International, The Klingon Assault Group, the Greenville Browncoats (Soutch Carolina) and international Browncoats club, and a Battlestar Galactica club. I am also the founder of the Bug-Eyed Monster Society which is about anything sci fi fantasy, or horror related. Honestly, all of my clubs intersect with all the other within my group of friends locally. I am also a member of our local Star Trek Meetup, Oagan Meetup, and Witches Meetup groups. et, I find I have very little social life. How did THAT happen? Seriously though, I do have a good solid core of friends I enjoy spending time with who all share a lot of my interests. Does anyone else have things like this in their real life offline? Have any of you actually started their own fan groups?

I'm not part of any scifi, fantasy, or horror groups. I don't have time. I'm a den leader for cub scouts, on the honors program planning commitee at school, member of several homeschool groups, volunteer political consultant for a couple homeschool groups too, and really active at church. That's the closest I get to "clubs" of any kind. I don't really have any local friends to speak of. I "hang out" w my friends online mostly, though they're people I spend time with when are on vacation or something. Most of them I've known forever and just don't live near anymore.

Where are your priorities! What kind of a self-proclaimed sci fi geek isn't a member of at least one club? Obviously, I am very much joking. I have no idea how you handle so much, really. Time management is NOT one of my strong suites, but I am getting better at it. Even thinking about buying a personal organizer. Scary thought.

I've been using organizers since I was about 12. The main trick is getting your body accustomed to continuous sleep deprivation. Even if I had the time, I doubt I would be a fanatical scifi geek, though. My fanaticism is firmly planted elsewhere. =D This is just a hobby.

My body is already used to sleep deprivation. I average about 5 hours a night. No good reason for it. I just spend too much itme reading, watching movies, etc. Honestly, the whole idea of an organizer scares me. I AM a Gemini after all. We are scattered by nature. So, my fanaticism is scattered all over the place too.

I'm the type that likes to have a life way, way out side of work. I use work to pay my bills but nothing more and I can't understand these people that live at work. I'm fanatical about a lot of things but work isn't one of them. Friends and Family are my primary focus and I live for them. Living life to the fullest and the four "L's" Live, Love, Laugh, and Learn.

I strongly avoid jobs that are only for the money. I go through phases where I "live at work" easily because I'm doing something that I either really enjoy or is very important to me. If I'm not doing something I care about, it's only "in the mean time". I work several part time jobs for just that reason. I run a web based school, but it's new so not bringing in much yet. So, I tutor on the side and have recently been sucked into my mom's latest project. She's remodeling houses for resale and I've been having so much fun helping it's replaced most of my tutoring work. That's not my fanaticism though. I don't know that I can sum it up easily, but I'd say family...in a kind of broad sense. I'm sure you see that everything in my life tends to revolve around building and supporting family, mine and others.
