Hey give L*I*S* some credit, It was the movie that Kicked Titanic out of the Number 1 spot at the box office. As long as you don't include the sequals fringey i agree with your list. What Was Frakes Thinking with T-Birds?

Did you know that Abbot & Costello are actually in the Baseball Hall of Fame because of the Who's On First routine? I was reading an article about it recently becuase it was like 50 years since their induction. It is, according to the article, arguably the most famous comedy routine ever. I have it on a cheapo dvd from one of there Colgate Comedy Hours. I think I found the DVD for a buck at the Dollar Tree. Well worth dollar for just that routine, even if the DVD is missing some scenes from the program itself.

Deal Includes Near Dark Remake

Michael Bay's production company, Platinum Dunes, has made a three-year, first-look deal with Rogue Pictures to develop horror films, including a a remake of the 1987 vampire movie Near Dark, Variety reported.

Rogue, the genre arm of Universal-based Focus Features, has made a deal with Platinum's Bay (director of the upcoming Transformers) and partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. The trio will produce horror films budgeted under $25 million and receive as much as 10 percent of the first-dollar gross, one of the richest producer deals in town. Platinum has already completed production on a Rogue remake of The Hitcher, for April release.

The Near Dark remake, about a cowboy wooed into joining a roving band of vampires, will be helmed by Samuel Bayer. Matt Venne is writing the script, and Charles Meeker and Amy Kaufman also produce. Production begins early next year.

The deal will also include a remake of 1987's The Changeling, which Rogue already had on its development roster. Separately, Platinum Dunes is remaking Hitchcock's The Birds for Universal Pictures.

Rogue, Focus and Universal are all owned by NBC Universal, which also owns SCIFI.COM.

Most remakes I've endured were alchemy in reverse; take a piece of gold, turn it into lead---or worse.
"Updating" old TV shows to feature films have gone about as well.
Why is it no one ever takes some gawdawful pile of dren and makes it better?
Answer? Lack of imagination.

Steady yourselves, my friends, for sooner or later some low grade moron will decide to redo Forbidden Planet and The Day the Earth Stood Still, simply because they're too unskilled and lacking grace to see it's all in the storytelling. There are no bad stories, only poorly told ones---and I'm certain I could do a straight remake of Plan 9 From Outer Space that would kick --- at the box office.
