Disney theme park ride getting movie treatment.
by Stax

September 21, 2006 - Disney plans on bringing another of its classic theme park rides to the silver screen. Screenwriters Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) are reportedly in the running to script Jungle Cruise for Mandeville Films, the production company behind Disney's sleeper hit Eight Below.

Jungle Cruise will be an adventure film that Disney hopes will kick-off a new franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The studio is looking to mine other Disney theme park attractions given the global success of its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Other theme park ride-to-film adaptations include Haunted Mansion and Country Bears.

The movie, which will be produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, is called a high priority for Disney.

Story details are reportedly top secret but it will take place in the 20th century rather than the present.

Oh boy! I can't wait for the "Small World" movie. Of course, they could make a really creepy movie of the Hall of Presidents. Just imagine all those dead presidents coming to life at once, advancing toward you whille giving you endless history lessons! Oh the horror!!!

In all seriousness, I think this could be cool. Pirates worked, so I think jungles could too.

On the nose! In all seriousness though, what other rides could they adapt into movies? I have never been to Disney World, so I have no idea.

Quick! Throw The Day The Earth Stood Still or Forbidden Planet into the DVD player. They will quickly erase that memory!
