Is it not time we had a thread in which we can discuss the many wonders of Neil Gaiman's Sandman comics.

Am I the only person who thought that the final part of 'The Kindly Ones' would have made for a better conclusion to the series than what followed in 'The Wake'.

Yes, a Sandman thread is well in order.

I had listed it as something I would like to see made into a
movie or TV show in another thread -- I liked what Gaiman did
in Mirrormask.

About the Wake...

I don't know what would have made the best end, but I liked
the Wake. It was touching, and it kind of hit on how I was
feeling at the loss of the series.

I heard there was some more recent stuff with Death, but I
haven't checked it out. Know anything about that and if it's
any good?

Well, Death had two mini series of her own. The High cost of Living and the time of Your Life. There was of course Endless Nights in which Neil Gaiman returned to the world of the Endless and gave each member of that family a new short story each. P Craig Russell provided the art for the Death story, with Milo Manara on Desire, Bill Sienkiewicz on Delirium, Miguelanxo Prado for Dream, Barron Storey on Despair, Glenn Farby on Destruction and Frank Quitely on Destiny.

I thought that death had a fantastic entrance in issue eight. That page of panels with Death, Dream and the baby and the final panel when the mother returns to the cot.

I'm re-reading "Fables and Reflections."

I LOVE the bits about Emperor Norton, the first and last emperor
of the United States.

"I hesitate to tell you this, Sam, but there are certain individuals who have accused me of. Mm. Well, being mad." -- Emperor Norton

"You shock me, Your Majesty." -- Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain)

I don't remember if Spidey ever showed up, but some of the DC
superheroes have been known to make an appearance.

"The one I just hate is when I'm just an actor on a strange television version of my life. Have you ever had that dream?"
"Doesn't everyone?"

To go a little off topic, Neil Gaiman has a new collection of short stories out in September. Fragile Things. Looking forward to this as I really enjoyed Smoke and Mirrors.
