So our local group here in Greenville, SC got a local theater to do something cool for us. They are getting a copy of Serenity and showing it for us one night on their big screen. We are selling all the tickets and doing all the advertising, but the theater isn't charging us a penny. All the money will go to charity, specifically Equality Now. This is pretty cool and if any of you folks are nearby, please come out and join us. If you aren't close, see if you can do this in your hometown! Check out this cool banner:
Be a Big Damn Hero and come see the Big Damn Movie for Equality Now or start your own screening! This is a great way to keep Firefly/Serenity in the public eye and to do some good deeds too.[/img]

Well, we went to the Greenville Comicon last week and presold tix and had a raflle for a couple of Firefly prize packs. Even before the screening this Tiesday night, November 7th, we have already raised $265 for Equality Now. Hopefully, we will raise a lot more at the actual screening as we will not only have the ticket sales, but also thre more raffle prize packs. I will let you know how much we eventually raise. Has anyone else here been invloved in one of these?

I am ashamed to say I will not be able to vote. I did the motor voter registration thing last year when i moved back to South Carolina. I am pretty sure that they sent me the card and I put it into my file cabinet for "safekeeping". I empited out my file cabinet completely Sunday night and could not find it. The VR people I called yesterday said they can send me a new card but I won't be able to vote in this election. Quite frankly, I am so disgusted with all the different smear campaigns going on in our area that I find all of the choices distateful and disastrous anyway and was going to vote the least of the evils. This will be the only time I have not voted, although for several presidential elections I wrote in Mickey Mouse. I figured, no matter who won, it was still going to be a Mickjey Mouse government, so I would be right.

Well, our charity screening went extremely well. Great turnout of close to ninety people on a very rainy Tuesday night. And the raffle went well too. We raised about $500 for Equality Now and we are all very happy.

I wish I could take credit for the idea, but this had already been done other places and the local fanatical Browncoat leader here came up with the idea for the whole thing. But, everyone in the groups helped promote it and chipped in for raffle prizes and stuff. It felt really good to do something for such a worthwhile charity.
