My God the two of you really like to go on and on and on ...don't you and all about the significance of an empty cardboard box...... iswallowedabug we may have a special bond with a cardboard box over a plastic one as they really are more available particularly in large sizes.

As for the glass half empty/ half full thing ....... I would take a more philosophical view ....What if the glass was in the forest and no one was there to see it, would it be half anything?

Ninjabear -- it looks like Lucifer666 was the one who took your
half-glass of water, and he hid it in a forest somewhere.

Anyway, Lucifer666, are you invoking the arugment of "If a tree
falls in the woods, and lands on a mime, does anyone care?"

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg." -- Abraham Lincoln

But, still, yes. It would still be half something, wherever it is. Of
course, Ninjabear might argue that the half-glass is still ALL his.

No I'm invoking if the dog was in the forest and no one was there to see it, would it have any legs at all? Or if Abraham Lincoln was in the forest and no one was there to see him or hear him, would he still have such stupid sayings?

You say it still has to be half something but if your not in the forest to see it or nobody else is ...how do you truly know its still is? As for me stealing Ninjabear's glass....if it can't be seen now in the forest ...you have no evidence against me........

Satellite photos, man. Satellite photos. We know all the underhanded

I'm not so cowardly that I'd use a stick. I'll be right there in your
face like Ernie pestering Bert. Been poking bears that way for
years, and I still have all my fingers. More to the point, fingerNAILS.

If you want me to give it my best shot rather than the idle musings
I've been sending your way, you've gotta make it seem like you
can handle it. You've gotta BRING IT rather than merely
rolling over in your hibernation.

"Now go away or I will taunt you a second time."

(with "go away" meaning "bring it on" not that you should leave)

What if there is no glass?!?!?! Or what if everything, every molecule in the universe is connected and it wouldnt matter whether or not the glass is half empty or half full because it is a part of us and we are the glass, we are the liquid in the glass.

It is getting really weird in here---eh, what the hell.
Lucif---you, beelzebub, I'm just calling you Bub to keep it simple. Bugger has a 'nick' name, as all my friends do.
Now then, time to separate metaphor from reality (the crazy guy made a joke). If a tree falls in the forest and here's no one there to hear it, how do you know a tree fell? Let's call that one settled.
Empty boxes of any material, fun to play with; also settled.
Bugger, don't try to blame Bub or Steph, it only makes you look guilty but you can have the rest of my water, 'cuz I've got Diet Raspberry Creme sodie-pop and rum.
I'm not touching the "satellite photo" crack; I'll just lose my temper (I HATE being lied to).

Bugger? Bring it, sweetie; I say Neeh to you---and now, for something completely different...

Actually you have it wrong. The question is " If a tree falls in a forest and noone is there to hear it. Does it make any sound? "

It's all a question of semantics, really.

It makes a sound; that's a physics thing. But if there's no one there
to hear it, it doesn't make a "noise."

Of course, if we invoke the "butterfly effect" the tree falling in
the forest somewhere is probably what caused the massive
hurricane season we had last year.

Well, I have at hand right now empty boxes of cardboard, plastic,
styrofoam, lead, another bizarre polymer I'm assuming can also
be classified as plastic, and something that seems ceramic.

The empty cardboard boxes are an order of magnitude more fun
than the others.

I'm not arguing, I'm just saying so is all.

That just sounds so gross on so many levels. I would never put
that in my mouth.

ninjabear wrote: I'm not touching the "satellite photo" crack; I'll just lose my temper (I HATE being lied to).

er, huh?

What exactly are you defining as a "lie"? I have been taught that
a lie is a false statement that was being passed off as being
true (that is, deceit is involved), whereas obviously untrue
statements made in jest may be false, but don't count as lying
because there was never any deceit (since the statements
were never passed of as the truth).

How do we know though if it makes a sound if there is nobody there to hear it you can surmise that it does. give your best guess that it does but can you know???

As for the Butterfly Effect if you put that in a forest with no one there does the butterfly still have an effect

Oh and you know you have a weird board when someone like Ninjabear acknowledges it

You could always set up recording equipment to capture the moment the tree falls. Then you would 'know'. But then you could say 'how exactly do you know that it was the tree falling making the sound and not just some other source?' and then it could lead to questions about how do we really 'know' anything at all?!
