Hi all!

I joined this site in January '07 because I thought the message boards here had some pretty good posts, and I wanted to join the conversation. Oh, yeah, and I was also hoping I'd meet a nice guy, but having tried a couple of online dating/social networking sites before I wasn't going to get my hopes up.

Well, I haven't logged in or posted here in some months because I actually DID meet a great guy through this very site, and (as I write this) we've been dating now for almost nine months. I'm sure other people must have found one another through this site too, but they probably stopped logging in and eventually their accounts were deleted, or once they found that special sci-fi someone, and were no longer available, they just deleted their accounts and moved on.

So, anyway, before I also disappeared into the ether, I just wanted to put up a post which might encourage those of you still on here looking to take a chance and send that e-mail, start that chat, or send a smooch and just see where it leads - nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say.

Congrats offworldgirl! We always like to hear about relationships forming on the sites.

We would like to reiterate rayman's comment that it would be great if you (and your honey) stick around and continue to post on the sites.

After looking through the profile options, we realized we were not doing a good job at addressing situations where someone was in a relationship and just on a site for friendship...so we've made a few changes:

MARITAL STATUS has been changed to RELATIONSHIP STATUS

And we've added some additional choices:
-committed
-dating someone special
-off the market, just here for friends

If you decide to maintain your profile, you can update your relationship choices in the 'Add/Edit Interests' section in the 'My Account' area.

Whether you decide to stick around or not, we wish you the best with your relationship.
