One word. Anthology! Stories from every series plus some new characters. You can get it all if you do an Anthology series.

Across the Sands of Time, along the Shores of Life, the Traveler rides on. For he knows his jou ey ends in l----rs meeting.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beware the beast Man for he is the Devil's pawn.
Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, or lust, or greed.
Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land.
Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert out of his home and yours.
Shun him. Drive him back into his jungle lair.
For he is the harbinger of death.

An anthology series is something I have heard bandied about before. But, I would not go with any of the old series. I would go more with the format they had for NBC's Sunday Night Mysteries back in the seventies, where they had McMilan & Wife, Columbo, and McCloud (was there one more?) that rotated stories every week. I would do that with Trek, with three or four new shows.

For us the story ended in nemesis and with the final episode of voyager putting us at the cusp of the end of the twenty-fourth century. So heres my idea, It should be set in the twenty-fith with the launch of the Enterprise-G, a full generation after next gen. Now I also think that they should take a DS9 approch with a continus storyline.

I think a show about kirk and spock after they left the academy might be interesting. Maybe they could tie it in to star trek enterprise a little bit. Maybe captain archers descendents could meet up with them or our lady vulcan's? I think that could be quite interesting. They could show how scotty and uhura and the rest of the crew came to be on the enterprise. What do you guys think about this?

I think a Klingon/Federation type story would be great! Start off where DS9 left off with Chancellor Martok, Worf and Alexander Roszhenko. The Left Hand of Destiny and the IKS Gorkon series would be absolutely wonderful on TV.

Anthology?
Does anyone really think those stumblebums at CBS/Paramount are competent, let alone capable of pulling off something so complex as anthology?
Face it, if they do another series it will be your worst nightmare come to TV, check your local listings than pop a Dramamine.

Let's face it, if they were to make another series in the past, they'd just mess everything up just like they did in Enterprise. The only way to go is the future. That way you can use past species as well as create new ones without destroying the time line that has already been established.
A new Trek show calls for all new characters (with perhaps a few guest stars from past episodes) a new ship and original story lines. I'm not sure Paramount has that in them.
They need to refer to true Trek fans and stay out of the past! I've read some brilliant stories written by fans. In fact I'm involved in a future set RPG that focuses on a new but highly unstable treaty with the Romulans. http://www.pbem-portal.com/trek/borderlands/
What could be so wrong with starting a series that could show us new perspectives? Having it set within Federation space, but showing the Romulan perspective on things as well? Or perhaps it's a treaty with another species... as long as they stay true to established trek. That's the biggest potential problem: messing up what is already established and making fans across the world upset.

Obviously, I agree wholeheartedly, Mickie (and welcome, BTW!). I want NEW Trek, not old Trek revisited and screwed up.

Ah! But what would they cover in stories that hasn't already been covered? One of the problems Trek has had is remaining fresh. Though they've tried, the last two films didn't have very good story plots. In fact, the only thing about Nemesis was that it opened up possible peace talks between the Federation and Romulus.
I'd have to say that if there is to be another T.V. show it will have to move another hundred years into the future like Next Gen. But it really needs to take a few years off to do that. For Trek to succeed, it needs to be able to make commentary on the current situations of our world and not be afraid of what will be thought about that commentary.
I'd find it interesting to see the Federation on the verge of collapse, despite the fact they have managed to get the Klingons and Romulans as allies. Perhaps, a hundred years in the future, the whole galaxy is under attack from a race from another galaxy. I point to the first year episode of Next Gen that had the Federation infiltrated by a race that took over the bodies of key Star Fleet officers. If you'll remember, a signal was sent to a location outside the galaxy. Perhaps these beings could be the new threat. Or maybe beings from other dimensions, like the ones that were able to defeat the Borg in Voyager. Everyone who saw them for the first time went "WOOOO!" I know I did. I mean, they simply ripped the Borg a new one!
But, as I've said, the stories need to be fresh and relavent to today's situations.

I dunno, guys, I just don't know.
It seems to me if they decide to do anything, it will be done by a small group of studio chimpanzees who have no idea what really makes Trek work. As my evidence, I submit the boob who thinks chopping dialogue and spiffing up the FX makes it better...yeah, right.
We want a gourmet meal, all they've got is macaroni and cheese.

The Next Star Trek Series Should Start In The Year 2460 About 75 Years After Voyager Gets Home. The slipstream drive has now been perfected and now replaces the warp drive alltogether. Transphasic and Quantum torpedos are the standard weapons on every starship not to mention shields that are twice as powerful then backed up by that abladive armor. Although Janeway took what seemed a fairly EASY trip back through time even though it was one way I don't think time travel should be a perfected technology like it is in the 29th century just yet. Although I think transporters themselves should now evolve to basically operate like a slipstream. The Enterprise has always been at the forefront of each time period {not series mind you} so based on them going through about 3 or 4 enterprises each century I would say we would have a brand new Enterprsie G just being built. The Romulans and cardassians will now be members of the federation by now. Captain Sisko {just ten years removed from the prophets and still looking young} and Vice Admiral Janeway retired and old will be at the ribbon cutting ceremony dedicating the first official Slipstream drive starship. The alpha quandrant all except the outer edge has been mapped and it is now time to explore the entire milky way galaxy. Beyond that it may still be unreachable for now due to slipstream being hard to map outside of any galaxy for some technical reason. After sisko was released the wormhole to the Gamma quadrant was closed. So missions will be to explore the rest of the beta gamma and delta quadrants and revisit some old areas. Like say the delta quadrant Borg have all either been unassimilated or destroyed by species 8472 and the beta quadrant borg are now being freed by a joint effort from Federation and other alliances in an effort to once and for all end the Borg threat to the Milky Way galaxy. The entire milky way galaxy can now be travelled from one end to another 100,000 light years in one months time exactly so the entire galaxy is the federations playground. Most missions will be to the large parts of unexplored beta and gamma quadrants. The new ship should have perhaps a Romulan LT JG assistant chief engineer who maybe was the first romulan to graduate from starfleet academy he has served three years on a starbase closed to earth as an Ensign and has a perfect duty record thus getting the enterpise G post. Maybe we could see a Cardassian enlisted crewmen as well as a few Ferengi. Admiral Nog will also be at the ribbon cutting ceremony having served as first officer of the Enterprise F for many years. The slipstream drive can have maybe four factors of speed. But the enterprise can only achieve slipstream factor 3 with factor 4 being the holy grail similar to what warp ten used to be

I still like the idea of doing anthology stories. And to tie each show together, they could do Star Fleet's Temperal Unit to go back in time to observe the events and maybe even get involved in some ways.

`I like the idea of explore time travel. Through Voyager and DS9 it just seemed as the next big jump for the Star Trek universe.
I was reading on good ole Memory Alpha, that at some point somewhere it was stated that people were starting to time travel in the 25th century (although I can't remember where or find it again). Since it's just 20 years off, I suggest performing another "restart" like TNG was, shiny new universe in the next century, plenty of cameos and such.
I think we could have a show that finally gets into the mechanics of time travel. It could focus on a young scientist as he attempts to break the time barrier. Maybe he gets the idea from himself traveling back in time to do it. His labs could be aboard a sexy new starship, and he'll have to deal with the average trek universe mishaps, and at the same time learn from them, and eventually discover the time sh*t. word.
I'd watch it.

`I was getting kind tired of the time traveling they would do in Voyager, then they tried it again on Enterprise with the Temperal War ongoing pilot. It will eventually become more about time traveling than Treking from star to star. They should go back to what the original series was about, a new ship and crew and of course Gene's vision of the future.
