That's a good idea in general, but sometimes a thread can have posts on different topics or combination topics mixed throughout.
We've seen times where a thread will be started, and veer off a little as people discuss a topic, or introduce new ideas that warrant a discussion of their own. Deciding which posts to move could be tricky...and it could mess up the flow of the original thread.
Instead, we'd like to suggest that members post a 'For further discusson on this topic, click here' message within a thread (with a link to the new thread specifically about the new topic).
That way members can keep threads more on topic, and open up new threads specific to discussions that unfold.
And since we can't watch all the posts in all the threads on all the sites, it gives members the ability to keep things on track, without having to rely on us.
Thanks,

A little off topic? But, since we now have a fantasy forum, shouldn't we go ahead and add a horror forum too, since the three are inextricably linked together in most people's minds and a lot of fans of one are fans of either one or both of the others? Just a thought.

I have just been to several other fan forums, and come home to a system that should be a model for the rest of them.
The worst of the lot was the Sci-Fi Channel forums---damn threads made my eyeballs hurt! Seriously, I'm in a little pain here, from trying to scan past video clips and bilboard size images, cartoons and whatnot, all dumped into a discussion thread all at once---what a frelling mess!
Keep the self indulgent garbage out of the way of what you're trying to say---or do you need a clip of Yoda swinging his lightsaber, because you have nothing useful to say?
Some forums are better than others, but the Trek Passions system, warts and all, is the best organized, easiest to read forum I've seen.
The Sci-Fi Channel forums are as frelled up, sloppy and half-baked as everything else they do.
Thanks, Feedback Boy, you're doing one hell of a job! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the nice words! We're pretty pleased with the way things are going (although we would love to see the number of members increase exponentially over the next year).
Our guess is that since the sites in Passions Network are for people 18+ years of age, that that might be one of the reasons why there is less of the excessive imagery added throughout the forum posts.
We do see some fairly big images added into some of the forum posts (on other sites in the network) on occasion, but fortunately it is the exception rather than the rule.
We have a ridiculously long list of features to add into the sites, and one of them is to set up a site/member photo gallery, where member's can upload their own artwork for display.
Our focus for the moment though, is on taking our nascent BLOG system, and tweaking it so that it becomes a strong part of how people express themselves on the site. For the moment, it is really simplistic, but once we begin rolling the blog entries on the homepage and in the profiles, it should help a little. Categorizing the blog entries is one of the next big issues to address as well.
Well, back to work!
Thanks again for the compliment,

Do we think Heroes has become popular enough to have it's own forum yet?

And, yet another suggestion might be to have a forum to talk about conventions, post links, etc. Con Talk?

As there has been no response to my last two posts, does that mean the answer is "no"?

Done.
FYI...The site re-design project began a few weeks ago, and preliminary designs have already been approved for a few pages.
We hope to have finalized the designs for most pages within the sites, in the next week or so...and then the underlying code will need to be generated.
Once that is complete, we will begin the process of fitting the new look into the network. This is the most complicated part of the process, and it is likely to take up the most time in the whole project.
Our hope is that we can complete all of this in the 1st quarter of 2007, but it is just a guess at this stage of the process.
Thanks,

Thanks for the forums and I am definitely looking forward to the new look. Hope it is futuristic to go with the theme.

How about a category for members to post short stories and poetry. I like to write and get feed back on what I write. But I also like to get a feel for a person by how they write and what they write about. I think you can learn a lot about a person and how they think by what they write. And maybe if it's a longer story that won't fit allow a like to the story.

Rather than set that up in the forum area, we'd like to suggest that you begin using the Blog feature. It was added to allow members to have a way to express themselves in exactly the way you described. Also, please use the tagging system that is part of the Blog system to 'tag' your stories with the tag Short Stories and your poems with Poems.
You can add multiple tags though, so you will be able to focus on the theme as well.
This will allow people to find your stories via a number of different tags, and if they like your writing style, they can click into your personal blog and read them all without having to jump from tag to tag.
Have fun!
:D
