Hello J! Your posts weren't showing the other day ! I bet you have the Triffids dvd. What about everyone else, are we the only english people posting on this thread?

Um, perhaps they could remake it in a post modern vein similar to Wes Craven's New Nightmare and have Anthony Stewart Head hosting a similiar sort of show to Mr McDowell in the originals, and finding out that vamps are real and having to use all that knowledge that he has from his years on Buffy to help some darn kids fight evil and win the day

I loved Into the Labrynth ....it was a great show and I surprising remember it well.....I actually thought I had entered it here earlier Jamie but I'm after having a quick look and I hadn't ....
It was about three kids who enter a cave and discover Rothgo (Ron Moody) a good wizard who is trapped there by an evil witch (Pamela Salem) Rothgo has lost most of his power and needs a magic jewel or braclet that has been split into shards, hidden and separated through time .....the kids agree to help him so he uses his limited power to transport them through time to different places in history each week they land in a new place where they must first find a past Rothgo (who is in each time period as he has lived in each one in disguise) and when they find him he's knows nothing about them until they tell him his real name (Rothgo)and then he magically knows everything and helps them find the shard of crystal that is hidden of course the witch is there in disguise too and if memory serves right she can't touch it she can just prevent them from getting it by, once discovered, using her magic to send the shard away again through time .....the kids I believe had to make a circle around the shard to obtain it. One of the memorable bits is when they travelled through time they would join hands and all three would whisper Rothgo (It was like a chant)

I loved the Original V and I can't wait to see a new version....But being honest I'm not really surprised they have held back production of this series after all I don't think a story about aliens coming down and humans forming a terrorist resistant group was really going to sell this past few years ....as sad as that may be true!!

Since jamie and Luey666 have both mentioned Robin of Sherwood and the new Robin Hood. I have to mention Maid Marian and her Merry Men. This was a brilliant children's series created by Tony Robinson in the 1990s. Basically it told the story of how it was really Marian that was the brains behind the merry men. Very funny.

Ooooh, Jonas Armstong is a very cute Robin.

ITV's decision to end children's programming in the week is a real concern I think. I do not know what the situation is in the states but I do worry that the children of today in Britain won't have the same treats between 4pm and 6pm that I and my comptempories had. As a primary school teacher I hear too many little mouths yaking about programmes that I don't really think are entirely suitable. Of course it will be only a matter of time now before the BBC follow suit.

I had a post earlier in this thread concerning this. Actualy most of the shows the kids like either come from or inspired by Japanese kids show. With luck they will be talking about how Batman 2020 is not as good as Batman 2006 or complaining of "whoever heard a dark haired Bond under 6 feet tall"
to be honest there have been verry few of the brittish kids show that have been mentioned that i have heard of. I've complained to BBC America and all we get is more Viccar of Dibbly and Footballers Wives.
I've heard of an animated Doctor Who, how is that?

That animated Dr Who your talking about Cooky might be a new cartoon that hasn't been released yet ....its a K9 animation not Dr Who one though

There was a one-shot animated Dcotor Who Scream of the Shailka, which I think they were proposing as an on-going series before RTD came in and brought back the show live-action. It was quite excellent, actually. I think the same animators are the ones doing the animated reproductions of the missing epsiodes of "Invasion" for the DVD release. You can view it via webcast at:

As for K-9, there is a series being done for Jetix, strictly for kids, called K-9 Adventures. It will live action, from what I can glean and K-9 will have a brand new look. No word yet on when it might air, or if it will make it to Jetix here in the US, either. Check out the original article here:

It could work, but we would need a new Gary Seven and Roberta. I think Robert Lansing has passed away, or at least retired from acting, and I can't see Teri Garr doing a TV series. Is it just me, or did that episode seem very inspired by Doctor Who to anyone else? Alien time traveler going around and trying to fix problems on other planets and finding a young attractive companion to travel with him? I know in the books that told the biography of Khan, there was a lot more to it than that, but the original episode seemed like maybe Gene was trying to create an American version of Doctor Who.

I was looking back through some old posts and ran across this. It was just recently brought to my attention that Andromeda was actually the third attempt to bring Dylan Hunt to the screen. The first two were Earth Two. Yep. Same idea, just expanded upon. Did anyone else realize this? Am I the only Trekkie who was clueless on this one?

Now that you mention it, I had forgotten the name had run through all those incarnations. But it doesn't surprise me because Roddenberry had wanted so much to get that character on t.v. as a continuing series. I think one of the people who played the character before Andromeda was John Saxxon in Assignment Earth and in Earth II. I guess he just didn't have the appeal that Sarbo did. Plus, it was set in space and not in a world turn apart by nuclear holocaust.

Yep. It was Saxon. I didn't mean it was exactly the same. But the basic premise of a Buck Rogers type character named Dylan Hunt, who wakes up hundreds of years later to find his world drastically changed for the worst, was what Roddenberry was working from and what Earth II and Andromeda grew from. I think the post apocalypse was the original idea, though, and the producers of Andromeda decided to expand it to outer space.
