Iswallowedabug's Blog Superpowers
Posted by Iswallowedabug on 2006-11-21 17:25:36.

I've been watching the show "Heroes" and frequently re-watching old episodes of the "The Tick," and occasionally watching "the 4400" when new episodes of that air, and a running theme in each show is the different kinds of superpowers the heroes (and villains) demonstrate. Something that often kicks around in my head is wondering how people would even know they had certain kinds of more obscure powers if the circumstances never presented themselves. Sure, it's one thing to have generic... 4 comments

Fringey's Blog Feeling frustrated and cynical. Bear with me.

You know, when you are a hopeless romantic, cuddler, passionate, and sci fi geeky person, life can be pretty difficult when it comes to the romance department. I honestly believe there is someone out there for me, but finding that person can be pretty hard. That leads to a lot of frustration, loneliness, and cynicism. I have been dragged through hell in previous relationship. I have also done my share of hurting others. I am no perfect guy and won't even pretend to be. Some of my relationships... 3 comments

Iswallowedabug's Blog Joss Alums...

It was quite amusing to see Tom Lenk and Alyson Hannigan interact again on last night's episode on "How I met your mother." Not only did we get to see "Andrew" (Tom Lenk) from Buffy/Angel, but also Morena Baccarin (Inara of Firefly/Serenity and Adria from Stargate SG1) in a guest role as well. Three Joss alums in the same show! (although, sadly, they didn't all have a scene together). 2 comments

Iswallowedabug's Blog Genre character type-casting?
Posted by Iswallowedabug on 2006-11-01 16:03:11.

The actor portaying DL on "Heroes" also played the soldier-turned-cyborg minion of Adam on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and one of Zod's disciples on "Smallville." Has he been type-cast? Is he slated mostly to play super-powered not-entirely human roles? Incidently, when he reached into Ali Larter's chest during their struggle, did anyone else think of the same sort of thing that happened in the Belgariad/Mallorean by David Eddings? I suppose it need not be referential, as it is an obvious means of attack when you can pass through solid matter. No comments

Of late, there seem to be some cross-promotional shout-outs on popular shows.... "Veronic Mars" characters have used "frack" repeatedly this season. Sawyer quoted Rack's line about Willow tasting like strawberries after he kissed Kate on "Lost." What's next? Perhaps the "Gilmore Girls" will eat some fruity oaty bars (well, Rory, maybe, I can't imagine Lorelai chowing down on one), or maybe House could be reading the Hiro comic from "Heroes"...too many fun possibilities....
